It all started with a Byrd Cara Cara 2 in G10. Then a Tenacious. Then a Persistence in blue G10. Then another Tenacious in green G10. Then a Para Military 2 in digi cam with black blade.

Now I am looking hard at a Manix 2, a Manix 2 xl, a Military, or a Native. There seems to be no end in site. Thanks a lot people.

Seriously though, I think the usefulness, and value/quality ratio may be the best out there.

Thats how I got started :D.

Just wait till you start looking into, CRK's and Striders, then Hinderers and full on customs. You'll really starting hating us then ;).

My demise was very similar :D. I purchased a Tenacious, was hooked as soon as I opened the knife. Then I got an Endura 4. Everything has went downhill. Well in my eyes uphill :D.

i started with a caly jr, then a endura4 ZDP, then a para2, it went downhill from there ;)

How do you like the Caly?
I am serioulsy considering pulling the trigger on a new spyderco today. I just cannot decide which one. The Caly does look nice though.

which caly were you looking at?

do you have any criteria for the knife? example: blade size, weight, price, etc? will you be EDC'ing the knife?

i got a sprint caly jr (grey handle) about 7-8 years ago, my first spyderco. it's a good little knife.

I love my Manix 2 (got one of the S30V versions), but found HTM next, and have thus far avoided buying too many other things. There are so many great knives in there. I'll go ahead and wish your pocketbook luck now...

Just EDC. Looking at the Calynwith carbon fiber scales. I like the blade shape and size. But also debating several others, see list in original post. I am currently in the decision phase, but leaning heavily toward the Manix 2.

i own two manix2 sprints (M4 and BD30P). for me, the manix2 regular version is a little on the heavy side of EDC. if you don't mind the weight, the manix series of knives are a great value.

you already own a para2 , so for EDC the caly 3.5 carbon fiber and ZDP would be something i would personally lean toward.

another thing to keep in mind, the manix2 is a readily and easily available knife. i'm not 100% sure, but the caly 3 and 3.5 carbon fiber might be a more limited production.

Well that throws another ingredient into the mix. I really like the carbon fiber version. The weight of the manix does not bother me at all. I don't get in a twist about two or three ounces. The manix is les expensive, but not substatially so. I may have to consider the Caly 3.5 a little harder.

Any opinions on the Chapparral? It also looks interesting.

Ok, i just pulled the trigger on the Manix 2. The deciding factors were: made in USA and found one brand new on the ebay for $75.99 shipped. Seemed tobe the best price i could find. Still like the looks of the Caly 3, but about $40-$50 more, and made in Japan. Not a deal breaker, better than china anyway, but i think i will wait untill next month on the Caly.

Just got the caly 3 (vg-10) recently, and man, it has not left
my pocket. I've been on a spyderco kick these past couple
of months and with their new offerings- I don't see an end in
sight, any time soon.

It's calling my name. Must have it!

Ebidis, if you like the golden and Japan made spydercos, take a closer look at the taichung made models. The gayle bradley, techno, tuff, chokwe, gb air, etc. all among the best that spyderco offers and a step above in the fit and finish depatment compared golden and seki city.

Are those the ones made in Taiwan? And what are the golden models you are refering to? I guess I don't know everything...yet. ;)

Ahh, of course Golden! My feeble sleep adled brain was not making the connection. I feel like a moron ( not hard for me sometimes). So the taiwan made blades are a step ABOVE U.S. and Japan models? This seems counter intuitive. Maybe just my personal experience with other knife manufacturers. But I am not questioning your judgement, I have never handled any of the Taiwan models.
