or at least my hand was gunna fall off. (see my "stiching yourself" thread here). Well I went camping with some friends, just truck camping. Nothing special. Well I was in the truck on the way home the next morning and my hand was just hurting bad. A really bad inside ache and it was throbing all the way into my wrist. I didn't understand because my cut is nearly completely healed now. Of course I think back to all the stuff posted in my thread about pain inside and stuff and my brain starts having some fun with me. By the time I got home I was ready to go straight to the ER so I don't lose my hand. I'm driving home imagining how bad it's going to suck trying to sharpen a knife with one hand and a nub. Crap! I never even got a bow and drill to work yet, I'll never be able to do it now! Then it hit me. I remebered that night I had split up some wood with my kabar and I was batoning something, don't remember but the hand guard ramed right into my palm where my cut was. I dunno how I forgot, it hurt like hell. Well I relaxed and my hand is back to normal now.

Would you errr I mean your friend do that stiching thing again? I have had several stiches put in one of my fingers WITHOUT the pain killer that is normally giving at the doctors office. That hurt like crazy then I was in the Marines at the time and got cut on razor wire puttin up a strand of that stuffs and the navy doc did the stiches with out deadining my finger that bastard was laughing all the time he was stiching me up. It was a bad cut though. Well would you do it again?

Take care,
Bryan

I think the amount of pain that goes along with stitches depends on the siz of the cut, the area, etc. I got 8 stitches over my right eye without any pain killer or anesthetic and barely felt a thing, very fine stitches though.

JB, if you have any redness or pain to the touch get to a doc and at least get some antibiotics in you.

yeah I'd do it agian. But I am going to pick up some proper supplies though. I dunno, didn't really hurt much, but I'm pretty stupid too. Tough and stupid... bad combination me thinks.

You got lucky. Which honestly does work most of the time, but not every time.

lol yeah. My father in law does it all the time. When I told him about it, his response was "Oh you did it yourself, good man". lol. Some good influence. I can def see how things go wrong quickly.

that was the plan, very lucky for me it's nearly healed up completely. Right now it looks like nothing more than a large briar scratch. The area definetly matters for pain too. With my hands, I'm lucky to feel anything. Between lifting weights daily with no gloves, gigantic calouses(sp?), working with them, and being a firefighter touching hot stuff constantly they're pretty tough. I put 2 stitches in my arm once and they hurt a good bit more. still not bad but definetly more.

What are you still doing being alive? We all had big plans for after the wake.
...man, talk about being inconsiderate! :D

firefighter? around here firefighter have to be paramedic first before they can do an exam for firefighter, if so u shud have been well aware of all the risks/possibilities etc. with that hand

Volunteer. I'm taking my EMT this year. The requirements are stupid lax around here. Breathing? can perform basic human functions under own power? Can speak at least in the occassional recognizable english? Sweet here's some gear. I hope to change things some soon.

edit: most places I know of require EMT, not paramedic btw

Where are you on at?

Manchester FD here.

Avery County NC. If I had things to do over again I wouldn't have gone to college, I would have gone straight to an academy. I really wish I was doing this on the professional level. I love it. Now it would just be a pay cut and I'd have to move.
