Hey everyone, I'm quite new to the forums and am just amazed at how much great advice everyone shares. You guys are knife geniuses! and this has got to be the best place to ask for advice on knives.
After reading different threads for hours the last couple of days, I learned a great deal but I was wondering if you can give me some customized information.
I recently purchased a Livesay Woo and NRG that came with an instructional video by Ray Ellingson. I think the video is a bunch of crap...but I'll write about that later.
Anyway, the Woo is cool but I just found out I can't wear it concealed, so now I need a good folder.
I am looking for a good FOLDER KNIFE for SELF-DEFENSE purposes only.
Below are some of the characteristics I'm looking for:
- I need to be able to carry it with me at all times, and it will be the only knife I'll be carrying (until I become a TRUE Bladeforumer like you guys, carrying 10 different knives at a time)
- Good overall quality.
- Any price range for now..but a good quality lower cost is best.
- California has no limitations on FOLDER blade length, so I would prefer a medium - large blade length, 3" or longer.
- Ability to slash well, as well as stab.
- Must be very easy to deploy with only one hand.
- Prefer for the blade to be black, for concealment, but not required.
- I HAVE NO IDEA Whether a Serrated edge is better for my purposes or a Straight edge, or a semi-serrated edge.
- A good lock system to protect my fingers.
- A good grip, but I am not sure what this really entails. Alot of the folders that I hear about on these forums don't look like they have a good grip, but I've never used one so I don't know. HELP!
-Lastly, I have no idea which shape is better for defense/fighting...like tanto or spear edge or etc...or what the pros and cons are of each...please shed some light.
OKAY...I know this is alot of info to absorb at once, and I'm sorry to take so much of your time, but I appreciate any help.
THANKS !!!
