When Bailey Bradshaw posted this model up for sale on the I immediately jumped on the opportunity. I asked Bailey to add a double thumb stud (I'm a lefty) and to also add a lanyard hole. Bailey finished up the blade in very short order and asked if he could take it to a local show (this was a few weeks before Reno). Since I was in no hurry I was happy to let him display the knife that weekend.

Shortly thereafter Bailey sent the knife to me and I was quite pleased with it...but in the Reno rush the lanyard hole was missed. I chatted with Bailey about it and he said "send it right back"...he also said he'd look at the lockup as it was slightly looser than I had anticipated. Bailey mentioned that he could try to "tweak" the lock but if it was beyond that he'd just remake the knife. "Well," I said, "if you do have to go that route could you clip the point a little too?" I'm a real fan of Bailey's clip points so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask...

The knife came in the mail today (despite Bailey's wife having a baby in the interim!) and let me tell you I am a happy camper. Bailey did indeed remake the knife even though the lock tweak worked on the original. He also did a wonderful job clipping the point and adding a slight swedge to give some extra character to the blade.

Thank you Bailey for making a wonderful knife and for your top-notch customer service! The best thing about it all is that you're never too busy to chat. :D

Here are some pics with the knife next to the Browning 579 (Bailey's design) for size reference. You all will have to forgive me for the dust, here in the desert it's hot and dry, and grit is a fact of life.

Been looking at those, wish I had the dough.

I do have a Bradshaw Midlock with a 52100 blade. It is awesome!

Boy, looking at those pics again...they're pretty bad. I'm going to re-take them tomorrow!!

That looks like a great everyday companion. Exceptional service and quality - that's Bailey for you.

I do notice, seeing some of his knives posted, one typical characteristic a squared off dropped edge. Wonder why he does this? .. not particularly attractive to my eye,...looks factory-esque'.

Disagree completely. Of course, you like what you like and there's no right or wrong there. But a dropped edge is a common characteristic of a forged blade as the steel is pulled down and away from the ricasso by the hammer. I like it. Others don't. But you are less likely to see it on a factory stock-removal blade, so I do disagree with the "factory look" comment.

This is stating the obvious, I'm sure, but the nice thing about custom knives is you get to have it your way (within reason). If you want a rounded dropped edge, or no dropped edge I am sure that Bailey can accomodate you.

Roger

PS - I don't know if this particular blade of Bailey's is forged or not as the original poster did not say.

1. Roger's point about the "straight drop" is correct. Very seldom will you see this feature in a factory knife.

2. Not sure about the dropped edge mods, Bailey seems incapeable to changing the way he does his choils(jk, mostly):p

3. Pretty sure that it is NOT forged, as the blade is S30.

I've got to agree with Roger on this. I find the dropped edge on Bailey's knives really catches my eye. Here's one that I bought on the this forum:

Stainless need not equal stock removal. I'm too tired to look, but I know that I have seen a post from Bailey talking about forging S30V. The top knife in this shot is forged CPM154:

No, the blade is not forged. I still make my stock removal folders with the dropped choil as it is a distinguishing feature on my folders. There are a few makers who do it as well, but I have tried to design it into all of my models.

Steven......if you are going to be a comical critic, you must NOT make grammatical errors.....:D

Thanks Aaron for the kind words and the post. Glad you are enjoying the folder.

My pleasure, Bailey. I hope we can meet up soon. In the meantime I'm pondering my katana situation. ;)

Updated the pics. Macro + indirect light = more better! :D

Titanium and steel: Bradshaw utility folder above, William Henry B12 Auto below. I made a new pair of leather lanyards for them, and stole some beads from my wife's collection to spruce up the tails a bit.

Hey, what else am I supposed to do? It's well over 90 degrees out.
