In this thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=686252 I asked for help in deciding between the Military and the FRN Stretch. With your help I decided on the Military. Like many of you, I still think the Stretch is a great knife and I plan on getting one when finances allow, but I choose the Military for this purchase because I already owned some FRN knives comparable to the Stretch and I didn't have anything like the Military.

I was torn between the digi camo and the orange handled models but decided on the digi camo because I was concerned about the orange G10 showing dirt.

The postman delivered the knife today so I've only had it for a few hours and can't give a full review but I did slip it into my pocket when I went to the grocery store earlier and like many have said it carries much smaller than its size. It's actually much more comfortable to carry than either my BM 551 or Ritter grip.

It is a big knife but not the monster I feared it might be. According to my ruler the blade is just a hair over 4" which isn't that much longer than the Pacific Salt at 3 7/8". The weight is a modest 4.3oz compared to the Pac Salt at 3 oz.

As I've come to expect from Spyderco, the blade was very sharp right out of the box, the top and bottom jimping is perfect and the liner lock seems very secure. I like the way the tang of the blade is slightly angled where the lock makes contact. I haven't seen that before on other knives.

The opening action was a little rough in the beginning but that's not unusual for new knives. I applied a little Tri-Flo and it's smoother now and I'm sure it will become smoother still as I use it.

The Military is very comfortable in my hand in all grip positions. I still prefer tip up carry but it's not a big deal and I know I'm really going to like this knife.

The tip is obviously finer than on the Pac Salt or Goddard but I don't see that as being a problem unless someone were trying to use it as a prybar.

I believe congratulations are in order. Start saving your money again, the ZDP stretch is waiting. :D

I never leave the house without at least one Military in my pocket.

BTW, nice roundup Jill! :D

One more thing, now that you have a military, USE it HARD. Then you'll know why the Military is considered one of the best production folders out there. Again, USE it HARD. ;)
