Your grinding some bolsters bare handed and you dunk them in the water to cool them off......and they sizzle

no its bad when you dunk that steel and its wet and you start grinding again and you watch the water boil off on your fingers (and think it cool funny or a mark of being a maker):D

you know its bad when.... your thinking of your forge while burning leaves so you hook the blower portion of a shop vac up to your burn barrel to speed up the process...... hahah

Cold is the answer ! When I lived in the far north - I noticed a burn on my hand ,something you would remember getting but I couldn't . Finally I remembered that coming home the night before something started to rattle in the engine compartment .I found the problem but had to fix it without gloves .I must have touched the exhaust manifold but at -25 F couldn't feel it ! I've also gotten cuts in cold weather but they didn't bleed until I got inside and warmed up !

Iceland , Greenland,Newfoundland ,then on west to Minnesota and south to Brooklyn where I'm from !!!

Yep, I do that all the time anymore. Have a nice shine on the ends of my index fingers and thumbs, and not much feeling there anymore. Makes you look like a real retard when you're playing cards and can't pick them up off the table :D
