You know, I've been sorta listening.

"Days like that....."

My welcome home from Desert Storm was a divorce, she couldn't handle the stress and strain of being a servicman's wife. I gave up everything, not because I had to, but because even hurt as I was I wanted to provide for my family. For months I slept on the floor of an empty apartment until I could get back on my feet. A year later, Hurricane Andrew once more took nearly everything I had. I've survived wars, I've survived being robbed, beaten, and left for dead.
I'm not bitter about any of it. Each of these things in its own way made me stronger and wiser, better able to help others avoid some of life's pitfalls. Hard times come to us all, death comes to us all. In the end it doesn't matter how we suffered, but how endured, not how we die, but how we lived.

Sarge's rule of "Half": If half of us had half a clue at just how good we've got it, we'd be half again as happy as we are half the time:p :D

Know how you feel Sarge. Happens to alot of servicemen. Happened to me on my return from Turkey. Kept it going for 3 years for the boys sake. Didn't work out. Gave up everything. Turned down jobs outside of town after retirement so I could be near the boys. Turned me upside down for quite a while.

On of the blessings of this forum. We get a window on a world that would see the "hell" of our daily lives as next to paradise.
