I was looking over his archived designs on treemanknives.com Although a 'dream' at this point for me, if you were to order a general purpose (or whatever your intended purpose would be) for a Scagel style knife by him for your 'bush-abouts'... what would you come up with? Share your specs and if you see a design on his site that you like already... maybe you can link the picture. I'm just curious how you would use a Scagel style knife for what we talk about here.

Thanks!

I love his knives but I wouldn't consider his suitable for bush abouts because of the huge cutout choil thing. Also the guard.

In the woods I use the area of the blade right near the handle a lot and the way his blades are designed there is no edge there just a cutout.

I would think his knives would be ideal for hunting though and I'd love to own one someday!!

I like his combat looking designs too. He has a long wait and his prices are out of my range, but all his knives look to be extremely well made and I really like the style he has.

I've been to his shop a few times and visited with him and his son (also a top notch knifemaker) at several shows over the years. Great people making incredible knives. I settled on a bird & trout design, but the blade lends itself well to being a medium hunter or a small camp knife as well. Very comfortable in hand and beautifully finished.
