Yep, they need small knife handles!:D

Seriously, I have smallish hands, and I'm thinking about ordering a Becker BK7 from the US. A search of these forums has indicated that the BK7 has relatively large/bulky handles.

For comparison:

I own a USAF pilot survival knife -- handle seems o.k.
I've held a Cold Steel SRK -- handle is almost perfect size.

I'd be using this item mainly as back-up self defence (eg. bedside)

Since there doesn't seem to be any stores around here that stock the BK7, I won't be able to handle any before ordering. I'd just like to know if anyone has comments about this knifes' handle size.

I have not tried the BK-7, but have handled the BK-9 and found the handle a little larger than I would like, but not that bad. The handle was quite comfortable to hold though. I have medium sized hands.

barber oregon, since I've got all three knives you mentioned, I took a piece of string and a ruler to get approximate diameters, at the thickest part of the handles.

3.50" -- USAF pilot survival knife
3.25" -- Cold Steel SRK
4.25" -- Becker BK7

Go for it! The difference should not be a problem. The handle is a harder, smoother material than the others. But the shape keeps my hand from slipping.

By the way, the pilot survival and SRK were 8 oz. each and the BK7 was 12 oz. but it doesn't feel noticeably heavier, it's a well-balanced knife.
