Here's what I think. With Sog's comittment to quality and finish, and obvious ability to build modern and high tech knives; Why not build a BG-42 high tech folder. Here's my idea: What about a folder with titanium handle (possibly a frame-lock) with colored G-10 scales (or possibly a wood version also) and a slim blade shaped like the new SOG Bowie? That would be cool. It's well-known that SOG can build an excellent economy and mid-range folder. So how about stepping up to the plate, and releasing a high-end production folder. I'm sure it would be extremely well-received.

Hi Ed,

Great to see you here again!

I can picture this one (at least in part). BG-42 is a great steel with a lot of promise. Lock wise, the Arc-Lock is where SOG is at. Though I could see a drop point before a bowie, but with Spencer designing, he never limits himself.

SHOT Show 2002 (January 2002) is where we will release the newest "toys." Sit tight...SOG's creative wheels are turning.

I did say "Possibly" a frame lock (I think). Partly because it is very strong and will sell well BECAUSE I think it much more widely accepted among the knife community as a very strong lock than the arclock. I am NOT slamming the arclock in any way, but thats how I perceive knife people to be in general. Also, I think can be easily recoginzed as being very strong right away for most people because you can see it right away (instant gratification); wheras the arclock requires a bit of an explantion for understanding.

And Ron, I did not mean a clip point like a more "traditional bowie", but rather a modified spearhead point like the newest SOG bowie. I would also suggest keeping the folder thin, as SOG already has a very nice classy thick folder in the Tomcat.

I'd really like to see SOG produce an Arc Lock folder with a BG42 blade. A few different blade styles on it (clip, drop, tanto, spear, etc.) would be a good idea. G-10 or Ti scales. I don't have a SOG yet, but this would do it for me.
