So my buddy and I decided last night to try a different hike today, the info we found online was pretty vague to say the least !
The trail began at some railway lines~
As we were further up Island to where we live the weather was quite a bit colder. Ice covered the ground and there was snow at the higher elevations. This hike climbed quite steeply so we quickly started to get some views~
To say there was a trail was stretching the imagination, we just appeared to be following a water run off which consisted of either running water or ice covered rock. All of us with the exception of Snicker were sliding all over the place, definitely tough going !
The ever present views kept us heading upward~
The top always appeared close but we hardly appeared to be making any progress~
Both Maisy and my mates dog Stewie were struggling on some of the steep icy sections, helping them when we were struggling ourselves was very tough. My mate stopped at one point and said he was worried how we were going to get back down. I said that maybe there would be an easier route back down that we could see from the top.......I really didn't want to try and take this route back down so I prayed I was right !
More views~
Near the top we came across some guys working on this tower, we were freezing cold so I dread to think how this poor guy must have felt hanging in the air !!!
Luck was with us today and we found an access road leading back down, the next time we do this hike we will come up this way and then head along the crest to a slightly higher elevation~
Plenty of deer tracks up here~
Snicker making tracks of her own~
Lots of ice around~
As we headed back down the sun came out, boy was this easier than the way we had climbed up !!!!
