You make it hard to try and stay a one (read only a few) knife guy!

Today it is 20 days since I got my Cognet Squirrel in the post and it's been in my pocket ever since. I've put on a light forced patina and let nature do the rest, and I love it to bits. However, every time I get on here I see you guys posting your newest purchase and I begin the struggle of resisting the urge to get one myself (especially the peanuts) and it's properly hard to be faithful to my beloved EDC knife (Pictured below):grumpy:. Do you have the same problem? and what is the knife you're currently trying to be faithful to?

Since this was taken it has seen some coin action in my pocket so the loop is a bit more worn.

If your goal is to have one or just a few knives, then as soon as you have used the forums to research your purchase(s), then buy and carry the knives and never return to the forums!

For pure usage purposes, I could get by just fine with 1/4 the number of knives I own for the rest of my life. I should probably quit buying until I've worn at least one of my current ones out. :)

i hear you there buddy. after exploring this place a while got a gec 85 which has been my primary carry for about a month. however coming back here always makes me longing for another beaut to buy, now looking at slimline trappers as a secondary so have optimal utility on me while not having to much in the pocket!

Have you checked out the Rough Rider thread? I bought one of those today, but I have been eyeballing GECs and Queens stuff too.

Yet the end of life for all the contents of my wallet...

Well, you can't take it with you! I understand your pain. I have a few knives, but there are a bunch more that I'm interested in. Used to be a knife was just a tool..... but it's actually cheaper than my other hobbies. :o

I've surprised myself since i got my case medium stockman and have been entirely faithful to it so far and have not yearned to carry or use any other knife ( ateast for anything a pocket knife can handle) i will however use a fixed blade or maybe my larger trapper if need be, but for pocket duty i am transforming into a one knife man!

Now you just need a stockman from every maker, and in every scale material that you find appealing. Or maybe a custom stockman, in some cool steel, or ancient damascus, or maybe even an exotic carbon steel.

"faithful" is for marriage. This is a knife forum.

Just as "there is no crying in baseball",
there is no "faithful" on a knife forum.

Haha i get all the enjoyment of having a new knife to play with from either this forum or my other knife loving friends. I get a surprising satisfaction through living vicariously through such means and saving what little money i have. Im just anxiously awaiting warmer weather when i can get out and put my new companion to better use!

but the 2013 forum knife might replace it the way its going :) (and if i have the money by then)

I stopped trying to be faithful to one knife a long time ago. My favorite remains my amber bone mini copperhead:

But, I have carried a bunch of newer knives the last few months. Resistance is futile. I read/heard that somewhere...
Applies here pretty well.

Next Thursday I'll be kicking a para 2 out of my pocket (that has been there for more than a year) for a $10 Stockman lol. I'm just anxious

I wish I could only carry one or two knives and be happy, I am a simple person and I dislike being owned by stuff, I would like to severely thin out my collection and be rid of the material things I don't need that weigh me down, but at the same time I enjoy collecting as a hobby and I would like as many as possible to pass onto my son when he is ready. As you can tell I am conflicted by my love of knives and my want of freedom.

I have been carrying this knife religiously for a week or two now and see no end in sight

I go in and out of phases where I can stay with one or carry a bunch. I just like to change it up I guess and if I have a good idea of where the day will take me, I plan my knife accordingly. All that said if I had to take one and only one, it would be my 53 without a second thought. Best all around knife I have ever used.

There better be a 1/2" ball bearing or a .50 cal musket ball in that monkey's fist!
