Don’t worry. This kind of nightmare only happens in Taiwan.
Just when I thought Taiwan government is the lesser of two evils alone the Black Ditch . They bring out this kind of lousy bureaucracy.
Actually in Taiwan you can buy any Khukuri style knife without any trouble. To be fair, I think they deliberately target knives from USA for I have no problem with knives coming from other countries.

Tell 'em it was made in Taiwan, but you're just buying it from an American! OK, that's a bold faced lie... If you don't like to lie, get one with the handle slabs separate from the blade and tell 'em it'll be assembled in Taiwan... :foot::foot:

;):D

But seriously... Sorry to hear about that, man. Tell 'em that Americans buy loads of products made there and can't they just let in one little (big) khukri? :)

Does it help if you tell them you are buying it from someone born in Taiwan? ;)

Thanks Jaxx,
I know no one likes whining, but for moment like this, you guys’ tolerance can save me from throwing eggs to their President.

I love whining, I can't get enough of it. Just saying...

I hope you get your knife, you must like Busse's an awful lot to put up with the $h!t they are putting you through...

That sucks about the red tape to import American knives

Hope you can get that licence easy

Does it help if you tell them you know Americans who have spent time in Taiwan, and have had Taiwanese girlfriends?

Thanks guys.
Taiwan custom & police are notorious for their un-ethical behavior toward knives collectors. There have been complains like scratched blade surface and chipped blade edge after those authorities asked knives collectors to submit their blades for inspection. And I think the most unacceptable practice is that they didn’t even bother to wipe the blade clean after they drove those poor blades through some wet, gooey, & ugly stuff. So most of the blades that were withheld by those authorities rusted to a very serious degree when they were finally returned.

In Taiwan, once your blades had been classified by the authorities as restricted weapon, authorities like police can ask you to submit your blades whenever they want and keep your blades as long as they see fit. In this case I think they just want to "own" a Busse KZ2LE so they classified it as a restricted weapon, even khukuri knives are very common in Taiwan.
So any person with any brain cells left will not own any blades classified as "restricted blade" in Tawan.
