Flashback to a week or so ago, at a teeny local knife show. I almost fell over when I saw these two knives sitting on somebody's table, mixed in with various factory knives. The first one is a Loveless style drop point/semi skinner with deep hollow ground, mirror finished D2 blade. Brass guard, Loveless style bolts and thong liner. Full tapered tang and dark brown micarta scales.

The second knife is a D.E. Henry style hunter with perfectly flat ground 154CM blade and super fine handrubbed finish. Full tapered tang. Stainless guard, pins and thong liner. Handle scales are the old white paper micarta that has yellowed perfectly.

Both knives have fit and finish that most knifemakers would be envious of(probably Loveless and Henry too). Both knives have very high quality, hand stitched, wet formed leather sheaths by the maker.

Who made these fine knives? None other than Russ Andrews, waaaay back in the 70s. :)

Hey, Danbo,
I met your friend with the pony tail at a couple of shows, the knife collector. Too bad I can't think of his name. Apparently he stays with you and another friend at Blade--- The guy that makes those knife boxes, which I must say are really nice. Anyway, what's keeping you away from Ohio... ;)

The pony tailed guy is B*& *&^%%&*@#$ and the guy with the boxes in none other than Calvin Cooledge. (author of my sig line):D

I had no idea that Russ had been making knives that long.

Go find a book called "The Gun Digest Book of Folding Knives", printed in 1977. Inside, is a nice 3-4 page write up about Russ, written by B.R. Hughes. :)

Russ has been at it since the 60s, I believe.

It's things like this on top of all the great knives in his collection that makes me hate Danbo.

.... and it shows in some of the finest knives out there. Great score, theres nothing like finding a hidden gem in the least unexpected places.

Seeing those really brings back some memories......especially
the little semi-skinner. That was a bit of a favorite of mine.

It was made somewhere between '74 & '77.

The larger one was #2, of model 2, and was made in late '79. or early
'80.

Thanks for posting them.

Hi, would someone please tell me where I can post questions. I joined yesterday and although I like the conversations i see I have real problems. Ignorance is eating me up. This spell check you guys are using, why? I have and you should too have spell check on your system. Chief

Can't seem to get help. Ok, I'll go some where else.

or anywhere on the Forums.

The answer to the question depends on the quality of the question.

If your question is unrelated to this thread, then start a new trhead in any forum that sounds like it might be on topic. If it is about custom knives, start a new thread in this forum and try to be specific about what it is that you are seeking. I sure can't tell from the post quoted above.
