This looks like a big system going up the coast. There could be some huge snowfall and weather in New England and the nearby areas. Probably the Canadian Maritime Provinces, too.

You guys take care of yourselves and your families. I hope your smithy roofs are strong and the doors are tight. Stay warm and dry and let us know how you fair after it is over ( assuming you have electricity and communication).

We're looking at 25-40cm(10-15in) of snow, plus hurricane force breezes. I live right on the coast so we may get a bit of freezing rain just to make things interesting.

Two years ago in Ct. we had storms that piled snow up to 3 feet on roofs that weren't designed for that snow load. Over 30 buildings collapsed around the state. I had 12 cranes working around the clock bailing snow off the roofs of the big box stores. Home Depot had 5 stores closed for 4 days as well as their distribution center by local building departments because their roofs were sagging. Imagine the revenue lost. The storm started this morning and HD ordered cranes yesterday to be parked in their parking lots by this morning. I bet the guy who made that call is making sure he doesn't loose his job like the last guy.

We are getting hammered here in southern NH. We have about 12" on the ground and the wind is blowing hard. Thank goodness for our outdoor wood furnace :)

24+ here in eastern CT. I've plowed twice
already and it just fills right back. Saturday will be busy digging
us out as well as the neighbors. Our driveway is about 450' long
with a turnaround at the top of the hill. I'm using a Kubota cabbed
tractor with a rear blade and bucket loader. Running out of places
to put the snow.

Oh, well. Spring is just around the corner.

Just for fun...

I live right on the Atlantic coast of Cape Breton at the end of the Louisbourg Hwy which is that line leading out of Sydney at your 4:00. Click the "PRINT VERSION" just below the radar screen to see road lines.

We currently have about 5" or 6" on the ground with heavy drifting in the 30mph winds(those will increase!!). The snow here is fine and icy but it's creating white out conditions at the moment.

I live right on the coast near Mystic and I'm not looking forward to the shoveling I'll have to do today!

I'm right in the middle of Connecticut.....just shoveled a path for the dogs so they could get out. Not really sure how much we have due to all the drifting but it is deep enough even my mastiff can't get through it!

No time to take pictures......too much shoveling to do:p

about 3 feet at my house - my dogs disappear when they go out!

Spring can't come soon enough as far as I'm concerned...

Just so ya'll know, the storm is still raging here. Last night we got about 5-6" of snow before it turned to ice/rain and coated everything with 1/4" of ice. Then, about 3:00am we got the back side of the storm with colder air, driving winds and heavy snow. Throughout the day we've gotten about 10-12"(very hard to tell) with 5' drifts in my driveway.

We haven't lost power.... so far.

Geez.... This storm was not fun ! I got my power back today and it was kind of rough because the only alternative heat we have is a gas log I have in a addition I put on a few years ago. But family is safe now and I just finished heat treating some 01 so I have a blade to finish over the weekend. Hope everyone else up here is well and thanks for the well wishes .
