This is a Battle Axe design I am currently working
on. It will be made from 1/4" A2 and heat treated
by Paul Bos. OAL blade is 13" Handle be Bocote or
Wenge! I am open to suggestions on this. Handle
will also have two Stainless round or oval guards
with wire and leather wraping and a turned SS
buttcap to balance it out. I may add a spike on the
opposite side in the same design as the top of the
Axe.

If it was for me I`d lose the C shaped cut out on the primary edge.It adds nothing to the utility of the ax and could actually hinder a smooth cutting stroke by hanging up in the material being cut or an opponents clothing or equipment.
 
Looking good, Bob! Can't wait to see the finished product. I love the looks of bocote, but I don't really know anything about the strength of either of those woods for an axe handle.
