You think I need a new Umnumzaan blade yet?

I got this new 21 large in the mail today, and didn't realize how much I use and sharpen my umnumzaan until I took these pictures. I've never sent in a knife for the full spa treatment - new blade and all, but after looking at these pics, I think it may by time.

Holy sharpening frenzy batman.

How old is that umnumzaan?

I think you should look into microbevels.

I sharpen my blades every week and I haven't even burnt up one initial bevel yet.

But needless to say you should keep using that sucker til its a toothpick!

I would say there is still some life left in that blade yet.

HAHA thats awesome. This is why I strop my CRKs for as long as I can before I have to really sharpen it. Thats pretty funny though, good to see a well used CRK like that.

I use crock sticks when I can, otherwise I use a set of paper wheels from Razor Sharp. I guess I'll just let this blade whittle down to nothing before I send her out. Thanks guys.

woah! awesome to see one used that much congrats!
if it cuts keep it and use it a bit more a new blade can wait

Know there are a number of "Recipes" for a shave sharp edge ... below is how I SWEETEN my Umnumzaan edge.
1. Dislove some green rouge (Steel Shine) with "Brake Cleaner" (not the environmentally friendly stuff)
2. Rub into leather strop let dry.
3. Rub on some WENOL All-purpose metal polish.
4. Strop blade to mirror finish. (This really only takes a few passes over the strop).

Those pictures really make me want an Umnum. CRKs (and most knives for that matter) look better to me the more they've been used. That thing looks gorgeous! Nice work!

Looks like the blade on my Son's small Seb. :)

With all this concern over lockbar life, it's great to see blades wearing out far sooner.

Not for notting but a strop is REALLY controllable and will put an incredibly fine / mirror polished edge on your blade ... make one like I described above and you will be pleasantly surprised....I promise. and the price for the hole setup is very cheap.

Yep, I have one and it works great ... bought the system through WWW.promotive.com You will need to setup an account but no big deal really. If you are not in the military or law enforcement, get a Buddy to buy for you. The system was about 1/2 price when purchased there...kinda pricey otherwise but will put a fine edge on your blades...set included 100/200 grit 400/600 and 800/1000 grit diamond hones...then I followed up with the strop system I mentioned above...made the strop cause I didn't want to spend another $50.00 on their strop.

When I saw it against the new 21, really knew and saw how much I use it. Never ever had a problem with this knife that wasn't my fault! (I crimped a washer re-assembling it one time and had to send her in).

That's one bad mamma Jamma knife right there boys. We'll see how the lg21 does.
