A friend told me the network news reported that the young lady was captured by the Iraqis after running out of ammunition, being wounded and drawing her knife to continue fighting. She sounds like a good person. Someone should find out what kind of knife she had and get her a new one.

America has a new hero.

A well-intentioned idea, but we might want to take into consideration that Ms. Lynch might want to avoid any overt reminders of her ordeal. I think that we should wait a while.

Not to make this unfortunate situation sound like a commercial opportunity, but does anyone else think that this would make a great movie just like Black Hawk Down?

Oh, I forgot to mention the heroic actions of the Iraqi man who helped rescue her. Inspiring.

PFC Lynch is my hero, A news paper appearently quoted a family member saying that Jess wanted to do enought time in the military to get her schooling to become a kindergarten teacher. This feisty young woman rose to the occasion and fought back with ferocity doing her unit and country proud.

God bless America and all who defend her.

My guess is there is already a small number of agents, screenwriters, and producers forming an encampment in her small town. This story was dramatic enough already, and now we find out that an Iraqi lawyer risked his life (and his familiy's) to help her escape by walking 6 miles to a Marine base, to give them the details of her location. Incredible. geegee

This young woman probably went through hell at the hands of the animals who had her. I hope she gains fame and fortune and achieves everything she wants in life. She deserves it. I thank God for being lucky enough to be a citizen of a country where my security is protected by such an incredibly courageous young person.

Complete and total determination for a young female of 19 years. A true testiment to our military training and her moral and intestinal fortitude. She is great and her family has my gratitude. I wish her and her family the best.

I cannot wait for hte final word to come about. I have heard conflicting reports as to the exact details of what happened. Regardless of that the fact, she has served her country well.

First thing I said upon hearing about the incident is that someone will at least write a book (maybe Miss Lynch herself, if the ordeal is not too emotional for her) or maybe a movie. After all, Blackhawk Down was a book first.

I have great respect for Miss Lynch, I wish her the best of luck. I hope she hasn't suffered emotional wounds that won't heal. BTW: I wonder what knife she had? I think I'll find out and we can all chip in.

Re "conflicting reports"..... in today's local paper we read all about Mohammed, the Iraqi man who spotted Ms. Lynch, scoped out the hospital in subsequent visits, & walked 6 miles through the desert to alert her comrades. Then, I read in the Christian Science Monitor that it was CIA agents on the ground who got the scoop. Maybe Mohammed works for the CIA so it is all one & the same, or maybe there are planted stories for protection of the sources, or whatever.... no matter, she's rescued, praise God, & no doubt it took tremendous personal courage & risk on someone's part. Bottom line, a tremendously inspiring saga.

Best,

Andrew
