Young to the bladesmith world

I am new to the blade smithing lifestyle. I had a good friend that tried to teach me but past away before he could really help me a whole lot. I've been trying to make my own knives and I can't get past the fact they don't look like his did or even halfway as good to his. Any ideas on ways to get better?

It would also be helpful to show some pictures of Your knives, and his too.

We like seeing that kind of stuff.
There are many outside apps for posting pictures

Sorry for the loss of your friend and teacher......Time and practice are the old standard for any " Hobby"....
Personally, mistakes are where I learn the most valuable things...... Just have to hope they aren't all painful mistakes😉.

Check out the shop talk sub-forum; lots of great information and super helpful fellow makers. Without seeing your knives or knowing what aspects of bladesmithing you’d like to imprive in, can’t really help you out much. Please do send some pictures of your knives, we’d love to see em!

I'm using a Samsung and I can't figure out how to add pictures

His name was wayne reynolds. He used to have a website knivesbywayne.com but I can't find it anymore or any of his knives at all and I can't figure out how to add pictures

As a registered user, you can post pictures using a picture hosting site. There are several free ones.
If you use imgur,
create a free account
Click <NEW POST>
Follow the directions to upload.
Once a picture has been uploated, go to the top right and mouse over the bubble with the first letter of your user name. That gives you a drop down.
Select "Posts"
That will show all your images. Click the image you want to post, then to the right at the top, copy "GRAB A LINK" address.
Then go to your post and click the "insert Image" tool on the tool bar. (It is located between the LINK...

So when you upload a photo to imgur, in the top right corner there should be 3 little dots. Click on them, then “Get share links” and then copy the BB code link for forums. Hope that helps!
