I was thinking of trying out the XT kevlar gloves and maybe the waterproof gauntlet ones. Has anyone had good experience with them? I'm getting sick of the cheapo one size fit's all gloves from Walmart.

I'll be doing a variety of tasks such as yard work, clearing some brush, and some camping most likely with them. I guess I just want a "do all" hand protector as much as possible while still maintaining dexterity (kinda key for me now).

If anyone has better suggestions for gloves, I'm certainly open to hear. As you can tell, I'm clueless on who makes quality gloves, etc.

I like mechanix gloves for dexterity and wells lamont leather work gloves for harder use. No need to spend a ton on gloves in my opinion. Either of these brands will last quite a while.

Do you have an industrial supply place or welding equipment store in your area? Best to go look at different styles, try them on and pick through so you don’t get leather ones with a thin spot or other flaw. I don’t like gloves, but have to wear them for some things, I picked up some Tillman Truefit gloves a few months ago at the local welding supply store and really like them, goat skin I think with a second rough out layer on the palm and base of the thumb grip area and a stretch back for a bit over $9 per pair. I like them better than the more expensive mechanix gloves, I was wearing them earlier today and had no trouble picking up, handling and hand starting fairly small fasteners (6-32 and 8-32). I picked up some of their winter gloves that are pig skin with thinsulate for about $12 last week, it hasn’t been cold enough to really wear them but they seem to have good dexterity and feel also. Like MarineAir said I like a deer skin or cowhide roper style glove for heavier stuff. I have had a pair of Duluth Trading winter work gloves for 2 or 3 years that I trade off with rag wool gloves for cold weather out and about wear that I am very happy with.
