I found this old gem of a book in the library here at NC State. The binding was broken, which made it perfect for scanning
Woodsmanship (1945!)
Here is a blerb!

Nice!!!

Can you scan the cover, or tell us the title and author?
Thanks in advance.

Interesting stuff.

One of the things that put me off on the classic Estwing hand axe was that it was uncomfortable to shorten up and use as a knife.

Same author did a book on boomerangs.

You can do just about anything necessary with an ax. If you could have only one cutting tool, in the north anyway, an ax would be my first choice. My current favorite is a lightweight Hudson's Bay model; I keep a heavier Iltis single bit in the truck.

I use a Tomahawk ;) and it true {ax or tomahawk} you can use as knife.
I have both when I'm up there;)

plan no useless move, take no step in vain.

Old time bushman in North America, all they had was an axe and pocket knife and lived off the land for months trapping.

If I had to have one long term survival cutting tool it would be a camp axe.

We are soft today.

To the western woodlands just begun.

(Probably had a tinder box and some flint as well. Not much.)
