Hi there,

My new room is under decorating, I am about to buy something can store and show the knives (major, about 15 knives so far) / axes (2 small ones).
Wanted to learn where do you place / store your knives?

Mind to post photos?
😃

Thee are a few to view on e-Bay and Amazon.

check them out for ideas.

A non-display idea: A friend of mine has a LOT of expensive photographic gear. He keeps much of this stuff organized and secure in a multi drawer metal tool chest, there are many brands, but SnapOn and Craftsman come to mind.

Another non-display side might be a "Machinists chest. Same idea as above, but smaller and made of oak.

Oh !
I went all out !
Picture this :
Twelve , count 'em TWELVE of the largest cookie baking sheets one can find .
then
a stack (two stacks actually) of medium bath towels ; plain (no pattern) medium gray (welllll . . .they have to match the aluminum of the baking sheets , don't they ?) . Classy all the way .

Put down one towel on tray . Arrange knives on towel according to style , brand , model . . . and in my case a separate tray for all my beloved M4 blade knives (you know . . . so they don't have to mix with the riff raff ). 🧐
Speaking of Case ; one tray is ALL just Case Trappers , about fifty , my favorite everyday user ! All other knives I put up with their glaring limitations ; one must be forgiving .
Allas 😞 🥴 🤬. . . no M4 trapper (that project is still on the list though)😤 .

Next
put a towel over top of arranged knives ; tuck ends / corners . . . to make it look dressy .

Grab another baking sheet and repeat .
Can fit two trays , stacked, under couch ; then two more beside those .
etc.
Fixed blades are a bit thicker (won't fit under couch) , with sheaths , so that is another stack of a few trays . . .out of eye shot of SWMBO .
Memorize order of stacks and always return them to same place and order . It's but a moments work to find a knife or two .

All this bending over and crawling around on the floor !
Some people PAY to take Yoga classes . WELL this is an obvious case of serendipity .
Knife collector's Yoga I am thinking of calling it . Trying to get the book published right now . . .

Got to come up with some cool names for the positions .
eg. you know like in Tai Chi there is "Grasping The Bird's Tail" or "Horse Stance"
How's this : Fat Old White Guy Stalks Treasure On Hands And Knees .
Wellll . . . it's a work in progress .

SWMBO would never ratify the glass front cases.
Sure she has scads of Chef's knives in plain view in the kitchen . . . but she's THE CHEF !
what Chef says goes .
Mostly she says , to me , when I say : "Here I want to show you an image / photo ."
she says " It doesn't have a knife in it does it " . . . "I don't want to look at it if it has another knife in it " .

Life is complicated .

PS: baking sheets and towels bought in quantity discount !
THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT .

To be brutally honest most peoples lives are organized by computer . . . teams of secretaries . . . what have you . . .
my life is arranged (at work and at home) with cookie sheets .
In point of fact as the holidays draw near I will be baking tins and tins of cookies (a person must be well provisioned for all the Christmas movies on the telly ) .
PS : yes that little tray is leather lined . . . living large .

They clutter the top drawer of my dresser, just enough space in it where they aren't piggybacking
I use everything so im not worried about scuffs or scratches

I got these for storage, not display. Fairly happy with them.

I am still consider if I wanted to have one for storage or storage+showcase, but if for storage, yours is nice choice!

For storage for the other folders I use an Apache storage case from Harbor Freight....1\3 cost of Pelican and probably half as good😜..It works though👌 50+ knives in it

Depends on what your man cave looks like.

If your space has a workshop vibe, then the Snap-On tool box approach might be what you want.

If your room is more like a cigar bar or gentleman's gun room, then the display with storage option migh be a better fit. Think of "shadow box" on the wall for those show pieces and an oak machinist's tool box for storage.

If this is a DIY project with you doing most of the work . . .and I suspect it is not . . . look for videos of folks converting a silverware chest for storage,
