Just wondering how you guys who are more knowledgeable than myself about knife collecting think when it comes to selecting an EDC?
Do you carry the older one that is usually more interesting, or go with a newer knife as to not mess up your older one?
For example, I have about a 1969 110 Hunter that is in really nice condition and the blade doesn't look to have ever been sharpened. I really like the pointiness of the clip blade and the loud snap when it locks open! It's just the kind of knife you would want to open at camp around the guys, but I'd be sick if I dropped it and broke the point or lost it when I have a new 110 that I could have been using. Or would you compromise and use a .110. that also looks like it has never been sharpened, but used as a hammer so it's a little beat up and probable won't ever be as valuable?
I have the same situation with my Rangers, do I use my new one, or the .112. that looks to have been used alot? Do you go ahead and use it, or not use it and stop any further deterioration when you can buy a new Ranger anywhere, but not a .112.?
In the end, I know they are made to be used, I just don't want to feel bad later on for using an oldie, especially when I have an 8 year old son that is eyeing them.
