I'm finally going to buy a knife that costs over $30. I've narrowed down to a choice of a Benchmade BM-942SBT or a Camillus Cuda CD1ST. i'm a lefty but I don't have a problem in a right handed world. Any opinions or help will be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums. Of the two you mention I would side with the Benchmade. The axis lock kicks butt. They are also much more left hand friendly.

Go with the 942SBT -- Amazing knife. Thin, feels great in the hand, great looks, seems smaller than it really is, Axis lock is the best and smoothest out there.

Good luck in your search. If you need a good price on the 942SBT e-mail me and I will give you the number of the guy I get mine from. I think he is one of the cheapest around.

942. I carried a blue 940 for awhile, and really liked it. Smoothest of the Axis locks I've tried. Very slick "little" knives. The black handle looks great, too, IMO.

Be warned. If such things matter to you-the BT coating scratches and wears pretty easily, and though it will continue to protect the blade, it will look like crap over time (very little time, if you are hard on knives). I would only get BT2 on a knife with an M2 blade, as that's the only option.

Sometimes can be heard about QC problems with Benchmade.

So, if possible, handle the knife before buying - or if purchasing online, ask the seller to check the knife for you.

I've done so, and never got any disappointments.

I've purchased this autumn 735 and 690 - like them both.

I'm thinking of buying 750 later this year too - so I think I like BMs... ;) :)
