Unfortunately, due to a recent relocation, I had to give up my house with a backyard, and settle for an apartment. In order to keep myself from going absolutely nuts, without a backyard for firebuilding and chopping and working on other skills, I decided it's time to start working on carving / whittling / trap making and so on - basically stuff where I can sit out on the balcony with a knife and a few scraps of wood, and see what kinds of things I can make, that would be useful in the woods.

Rather than digging through a million posts, or hitting Google every time I want to think of something to carve, I thought it would be a good idea to try to consolidate a bunch of links to various carving guides and how-to's. If you have any favorites you'd like to share, I'm all ears.

Please keep this to at least potentially useful stuff - a spoon is great and serves a purpose, but whittling a pretty little birdie out of soap isn't exactly what I have in mind :D

Here's a tutorial that I did a while back, the techniques utilized can be used for bowl making with a knife:

Here's another of mine for Bullroarer carving, I find a very easy to make, useful tool for location finding, communication, and music! The last post shows the most recent iterations of them.
