The rules:

Any item mentioned in this thread must be under $10, including shipping if purchased online. Exceptions include deals such as Amazon where shipping is free if you hit $25 of items, etc. These may not be the Atwoods and Rolexes of the world, but there are some little bits of kit that are so cheap it just makes sense to grab a few.

-Gerber Shard. Found at big box stores, cheaper than a Widgy bar from countycomm because of the six dollar shipping charge.

-Zip ties. A bundle for a dollar.

-Wet naps pack. Around a dollar in the travel/trial section.

-Travel sized Dr. Bronners soap. A few bucks at Target, either Peppermint of Lavender, really is good for everything.

-Generic handkerchiefs. For five dollars at Walmart, you get thirteen white cotton cloths. Not as sturdy as a bandanna but just as versatile, disposable, and clean-looking when you give them away.

-Fox 40 whistles. Every type is just about under ten bucks, one of the cheapest bits of gear that most enthusiasts agree on carrying.

-Wisp disposable toothbrushes.

Hmm. Good thread. Wish I had thought of it.

Fox 40 micro whistle
band aids and antibacterial wipes
Victorinox Classic SD (used)
Gorilla tape
Breath Savers mints, 10 pack
Advil, Tums, Imodium
safety pins for clothing repair and everything else
P-38 can opener
Gerber Shard (ditto)
hand sanitizer

Edit:

WD-40; I love the stuff, though everyone else seems to hate it.

WD-40 just needs to be used what its for, its not magic, but it is great!
This one is tough for me living down under as a good average is to double the US MSRP and you are in the ballpark for the shelf cost.
But in the cheap category:
Bic lighters
HDPE Nalgene bottle (the old white ones)
masons line
some non-stick gauze and a couple of roll gauze make a cheap and effective, if ugly bleeder kit
USPS tyvek mailers

Plus remembering that shiny and new isn't always best, saves a lot of cash!

An extra bike inner tube
Self adhesive tube patches
Paracord
Lighter/matches
Eye drops
Aspirin/ibuprofen/benedryl (each one can save a life)
Parafin wax fire fuel
US army survival guide
Needles/unwaxed floss
Old US made slip joint (Hammer Brand, Imperial, Colonial, etc)
Pencil/paper

-Xander

White Cloud 3-ply toilet paper — 12 rolls for $6 at Wally World!

As a chef the most I need is bandage and wet wipes, both usually very cheap. Also mints for when I get drunk at work.

Toothbrush and toothpaste
Toilet paper
Razor blades (I prefer a double edged safety razor myself)
Nail clippers
Electric hair clipper (ok, this one is slightly over 10$ but it is extremely useful)
Dishwashing liquid
Body wash

Spoon
Bowl
Can opener
Opinel

Second skin blister bandage (compeed or similar)
Pain killers
Vaseline
Water free lip balm

Fire starters
Lighter

Prepaid cellphone chip for an emergency phone
Ballpoint pen and paper

Spare batteries (for your edc light)
Lightbulbs
12 volt to usb charger

Paper clips and binder clips
Duct tape

It's amazing what you can get below 10 dollars.

One of the most useful for me was the stream light nano light. It's super cheap and super easy to carry....
