I'd like to start a thead where everyone post there absolute favorite piece of gear. Be it a flashlight, gps, boots, gun, camera, etc. Something you love, and want to reccomend to everyone. It should be something you've had and used for a while. Tell me why you like it so much.
Mine is the Fenix L2T flashlight. This thing runs on 2 AA, has two brightness settings, runs for hours and hours on the bright setting, and rivals all other flashlights that I have owned except for surefires. The thing is slim, and you can easy mod it to have a pocket clip. Please post your favorite.

first off would be my low teck piece of kit, a normal zippo ligher, i love it, its started fires in all kinds of weather as well al lit friends cigs. its taken tons of abuse and still works (used it as a hammer more than once), and above all is a dependable source of two necesities in any survival situation. heat, and light.

the second is a psp. i didnt think id use it much when i got it but its so great to have around. videos, music, games, pictures there is just so much you can do with it. (plus it doubles as a pretay decent gps system)

OHHH! how do you make it do that? I have a PSP but I'm over 30, so I need to know.

Favorite piece of gear...other than a pocket knife? Well my Arc light is the handiest tiny little flash light. I'm always using it, since I work at night, I'm usually awake in the dark hours...thus needing light.

Hmmmm, my favorite gear? One of my favorite pieces of gear is my beyondfleece.com jacket!! It is light and keeps me warm and dry.
Another favorite is my CR 2 Ion light. I just love this little light. It has 2 levels of brightness.

Well I'd say its a toss up between my butane windproof lighter. Free from some cigarrette promition and great in the winds of the valley where I spend most of my time; or maybe my photon2 LED light. Its just so light, compact and reliable. Bright too, with good batt life.

I would definitely say my Canon 70-200 f4 lens. I love this lens. Best piece of camera equipment i have next to my hasselblad.

How did you put a pocket clip on it? I have an L1T with a Seoul SC U Bin led in it. I would like a pocket clip for it.
Thanks,
Mike

It's hard to choose a favorite. But I have 4 Arc AAA lights and they get used the most. One goes in my shirt pocket, one in each cargo pocket of my pants and one in my pack along with a Surefire U2 For longer range uses.

All four of my Arcs are loaded with lithium AAA batteries; One for routine use and the rest as redundant backup 'just in case'. These lights are wonderful close range task lights but not for 'lighting up the night' or temporarily blinding an attacker.

I use the one in my shirt pocket more than any other piece of gear. They are so small and lightweight, they seem to disappear in the pocket until called to duty.

I remove the pocket clips and split rings. I replace the split rings with small nylon lanyards which further reduces weight and bulk. www.arcflashlight.com

One of my other absolute favorite pieces of gear is, my SF E1e. I own 5 of them; a couple of them live in jackets. I have one that lives in a leather belt sheath, and goes on me anytime I wear jeans. One in the night stand next to me, and the 5th sits on the desk next to my computer! I LOVE this light.

Certainly knives are at the top of the list. However for gadgets I would say that my Sony handycam claims honors. I can carry it in my pocket and make movie grade videos.

I like ghetto blasters. I use them for outside work like the wood pile effort, fixing the truck or for just lounging out. My favorite is the JVC Kaboom tube shaped ghetto blaster. Tough as nails, good sound and bass for its size. It is extremely portable, and goes for hours on a 12V power pack.

Cool topic idea

I've got a few favorite pieces of gear, some of them season-specific:
- my Greco Explorer knife. Its 9" fixed blade is an excellent field knife. Sadly, it's a model he no longer makes :( Sad for everyone who doesn't have one, that is :p
- my TNF Mountain Light G-Tex parka. No, it's not perfect. Yes, it's mine and it fits incredibly well. It keeps me dry and I got a great deal on it.
- a wool beanie. Simple, yet oh-so-useful.
- metal match. I love making the campfire. I'm smitten with throwing sparks and watching it roar to life.
- a good LED headlamp. My previous one was lost (Princeton Tec Aurora), so I'm looking inot some Black DIamonds and Petzls as replacements.
- my brown, crushable, wool felt Outback brand Aussie/cowboy hat.

My $5.00 pill bottle that I bought at CVS drug store. It's about hangs on my keychain and is about .75" x 2" stainless and holds a one day supply of meds (in case I'm on the road and forgot to take them) a half dozen Motrin and some prescription antacids.

My favorite "gear" has to be my Olympus OM-1n camera. You just have to love a 30+ year-old camera that takes excellent photos, and does it without requiring a battery...

My RailRiders pants.

Oh . . . and my FoxFury headlamp, that sucker's bright and I can use it on my bike, too.
