I'm thinking of the ASH-1, SFNO, NMSFNO, and SJTAC. I love 'em all for different reasons and was interested in your opinions. Here's my take on each:

ASH-1: Really comfortable handle and useful blade length. CG is a little thick but feels very solid in hand. LE and Skinny versions are great, versatile, everyday knives.

SFNO: The sexiest looking of the bunch. Great blade shape and length. SF handle is more comfortable in large hands than small.

NMSFNO: Looks great overall, maybe a little long. Doesn't match the SFNO in looks but has great balance in hand. Longer blade matches up well with the SF handle to provide slightly better leverage and balance than the SFNO, as good as it is. The best chopper of the bunch.

SJTAC: The best fighter / self defense knife of the four (I wouldn't want anyone swinging an NMSFNO at me though). Versatile blade length and shape. Comfortable handle, but a little less so than the ASH-1.

Anyone of these knives could handle anything we threw at it (I keep thinking of Noss' work with the Skinny ASH on knifetests.com). If I could have only one, don't know which it would be. Maybe the SFNO for flat out good looks, the ASH-1 for comfort and versatility, the NMSFNO for chopping power, heft, and balance, and the SJTAC for self defense.

I'm sure you all see it differently and look forward to hearing from you. Thanks. John

John, I think you've summed up my opinion on those 4. After owning all, I sold all of those except my SFNOs.

For all around use I'll take the SJTAC. With it I can do anything I need to do with a knife.... bushcraft/camp knife, survival, batoning, chopping, yet still able to perform fine tasks such as field dressing and skinning. It is the one I carry in the woods more often than not.

My mind may change if I ever buy a SFNO... but my vote goes to the jack for all around versatility and balance.

All those knives are either too small or too big :p

You want a SHBM, BME or CGFBM and then skip all those midsize blades until you get to a BAIII.

i've never for even one second thought of the satin jack as a fighter. I'd take the NMSFNO as a fighting blade over the sjtac any day. It has the length to be a chopper, and enough that I wouldn't worry about the choil.

choils have no place on knives designed for fighting.

for general use, if I could choose only one and I was going to carry it around everywhere, sjtac. If I wanted something as a camp knife that would reside mostly in or on a back pack, I'd probably get the nmsfno. If you get the nmsfno and can't afford anything else, you could buy something really really cheap like a cs finn wolf to back it up on the small/thin side of things.

I carried the SJTAC for a year in Iraq, and not once was it akward or let me down! Perfect size and shape for EDC in the War Zone!

Thanks for your service, brother. I'm glad you had goo kit out there to help you out and keep you safe. Incidentally, was it an ETS SJT? (Embrace the Suck)

I would vote for the SFNO -- especially the Saber SFNO.

I probably have a few more ASH1's than SFNOs, but for some rason I am drawn to the SFNO more.

SFNO, but they are all great knives. I'm not crazy for the TAC handles like on the SJTAC though.

Ash 1cg double cut with black micarta or g10.

Then thin down the edge some! Makes a great knife with a timeless no frills design!

Depends on what you want it for. I love the SFNO and the ASH and they are great general use knives. Adding an inch to the SFNO doesn't make it a chopper or fighter, so the Battle Mistress wins on one end of the spectrum. The SJTAC is perfect as far as a real world fighter (I know this is subjective to style) and has the most versatile grips out of this group for this intent. The choil is more useful on this design than any other except for the largest of choppers.

The Special Forces handle is the most comfortable and would be my choice. Probably the Sabre SFNO is the best looking of the three with the ASH-1 Second and NMSFNO third aesthectically but first as a user. I do not care for the TAC handle at all and that puts the SJ (and BA) in a distant 4th place. YMMV

I HOPE the new "Series" includes a Badger Attack without the TAC.

My vote goes to the SFNO as the 1st knife I would pick out of my drawer if I could only take one. The proportions on that knife are perfect and it is just large enough to do some chopping.

My second place out of those four is the ASH1 (LE or Skinny) for a good general camp knife.

My thrid place would be the NMSFNO. I like the looks of the SFNO and the ASH1 better but you can't argue with the functionality of the NMSFNO. Interesting thing about that knife is that over all length matches up very closely with the Basic 9 and Battle Rat.

The SJTAC just doesn't work for me because of the thickness/shape of the TAC scales. On the other hand, the original SJ is an amazing blade that would slot in between the SFNO and the ASH1 in preference.

What about a Nuke NMSFNO to do all the jobs mentioned?
