I've never owned a Swiss Army Knife but since joining this forum I suddenly have the urge to own one. I see their are a ton of models...

For all you SAK lovers out there; what is your favorite?

I generally prefer light/thin knives.
I like sheep foot blades.
I like the modern looking ones I see (metal handles/bright colors not red plastic)

I keep going back to the Trailmaster M3 because it's functional and manly ;) No dorky corkscrew but a screwdriver instead. The Vic serrations are really good as well, very functional

There are countless models, but since you like the alox models that's great. You can't go wrong with the Pioneer. Since you like a Sheepsfoot blade you should look at the Electrician. Not sure if it count's as a Sheepsfoot, but its a interesting blade. You might also like the Harvester. The Harvester is discontinued, but you should be able to find one still. If you have an idea of tools you would like let me know so I can recommend knives with those specifically. There isn't a huge diversity of tool selection in the alox models, but i'm sure we can find something that will work for you.

I don't have to have a sheeps foot at all.

As far as tools...wow; I have no idea, lol. I'm thinking a can/bottle opener would be good, an awl, and screw drivers?

I'm really open to suggestions of what others find useful.

BTW the Skipper is also a good choice, looks gorgeous and those pliers are amazing, I find myself using them more than the blade.

For the traditional ones my favorite is the super tinker.

For the Alox I like the farmer and cadet.

Victorinox SwissTool Spirit Plus Ratchet 105mm and Cadet Silver ALOX 84mm.

The possibilities for SAKs really are endless. I bought 8 Super Tinkers from Target about five years ago. They were on clearance for $6 each. I bought all they had and use them all the time. A few I gave away as gifts and a couple sit around the house, while the rest are in my vehicles. They're great to have around. I have a few other models, but these are the ones I use the most.

I'm more attracted to the alox models my 2 favorites are the harvester and cadet. But I do want an electrician to add to the rotation.

If I could only have one it would be a Farmer. However, I carry a Pioneer. It has the same loadout as the Farmer less the saw. I carry the Farmer when I know I'll be spending an extended period outdoors, fishing, or hunting.

The Pioneer is what I would suggest as a starter. My favorite is the 111mm Adventurer which is a two layer SAK with basic tools like the Tinker. I like having the toothpick and tweezers available, so I tend not to buy the Alox models even though I think they are a more handsome knife.

Alox Farmer, Cadet, Pioneer/Soldier etc. Love them all carry different ones for different outings.
Here's a group photo recycled from the Beer & Blades thread.
