One of my favorite blade shapes has always been a fixed spearspoint shape blade with a single edge. It's simple, good looking, and for me gets the job done especially at a small, slender size (2.5" - 3"). I can prepare pretty much any meal with great precision using just a sharp 3" spear pointed knife, and I have many times.

It's a shame that it seems so many super cheap options of this shape and style are sold as gimmicky double edged 5"+ long boot knife daggers that are clearly marketed to people who are turned on by the idea of stabbing someone with it. (this seems like the type of forum where I can express my small crush on Marc MacYoung.... )

I like cheap knives, have always used them reliably without the stress of losing them, either to the police or if i have to get into a concert somewhere or something(job stuff mostly)

What are some of your favs? I'd love to see. Not really looking for a knife rec right now (but i may take some inspiration), just curious whats out there and what people like...

I've got a bunch of spear point folders, but no fixed blades of that shape.

edit: I guess I spoke too soon.... I have this little Nemesis Arch Ally knife that is considered a "neck knife" sized blade. It's a nice little knife, with S30V steel...

when I was a teenager I had something that looked a lot like this:
xp_knives_kn-yc-s-109-peb_main-300x168.jpg.pagespeed.ic.-HLd44R15D.jpg

Except it had a matte "silver" blade (ew)

Piece of garbage, really, but for $10 , and my style, it was very COOL to have... came in handy just as much as any knife. I think it's a little trashy nowadays to carry a fake Stiletto, but I'd carry a real Stiletto if switchblades weren't such a pain in the ass legally. I could get my carry license here and carry one as per state law but I believe Chi would still give me trouble about it. Still prefer a fixed blade.

Victorinox gets it just right, gotta have the taper.
Straight spears with a swedge aren't my thing.

And camillus really did it right with their electricians, nice and broad with just the right amount of taper.

I don't think I have a fixed blade with a spear point blade.
I do have a couple 4 blade scout/camp/"demo" knives, a "few" Canoe's and a GEC 852211 Harness jack with a spear point main ... and if I can ever find it again, a (Victorinox) SAK Huntsman.
A Scout/Camp/Demo or the Huntsman has been part of my EDC for at least 58-59 years. (since I was 6, I think)

For me, the trouble is finding ones (fixed spear points) that are modest, with a single edge, and not daggers with a super military/sacrificial knife design.

I really like the super cheap Smith & Wesson 2.75" FDE knife . I would prefer if they had made one in black. I would spend decent cash on a GOOD quality knife that resembled its shape and design, with a leather sheath. Anyone know of anything like that?

L.T. Wright and I’m sure others do make a “Kephart” style blade in the 3” vicinity -Next Gen 3 iirc. I’m sure there are more. Many custom Bushcraft Knife makers have something along these lines-Ben Orford does one.
Thanks, Neal
