Kept it to the most common current ones. There are some that use combinations of materials but they've been excluded here for simplicity.

  1. ALUMINUM
  2. CARBON FIBER
  3. CARBON FIBER/G-10 LAMINATE
  4. FRCP
  5. FRN
  6. G-10
  7. MICARTA
  8. NATURAL MATERIALS (jigged bone, leather, mother of pearl, abalone, stabilized woods and stone)
  9. GLASS FIBER
  10. PEEL-PLY CARBON FIBER
  11. STAINLESS STEEL
  12. TITANIUM

I'm a big fan of aluminum with Almite coating. I've had/have a few and they still look like new. In fact I just sold my R2 today. :(

I don't have a strong preference between G10, Ti, and CF. All others are second and about the same.

You need 3 categories IMO. FRN for dirty jobs, work and lending to friends/family, G-10 for general carry and self defense back up and Nishijin for dressy occasions. Sorry. Nothing is ever simple when it comes to coping with a knife addiction.:o
I voted G-10.

I voted frn. My delica with bi directional texturing is perfect to get a grip with heavy gloves on. Close second for g-10 and titanium.

G10 for me too, i wish they made some of their higher end knives with g10, carbon fiber and titanium make me feel like the knife is too nice to use

I like the FRN and the bi-directional texturing, it offers something different.

Personally, if I had to pick one Spyderco factory regular production handle/scale, it'd be the CF/G-10 Laminate (like on the GB and Domino) since the texturing gives me enough grip without the aggressive texturing in some or lack thereof in others.

Personally, I would also like to see more of the crafted, contoured and even polished G-10 handles like on the Vallotton and Hungarian. Perhaps less polished in some with more grooved patterns in the G-10.

Interesting that after 77 votes the three types of Carbon Fiber handle materials (CARBON FIBER, CARBON FIBER/G-10 LAMINATE and PEEL-PLY CARBON FIBER) have 25 votes together to G-10's 23 votes.

I guess nobody uses/likes stainless steel handles on Spydercos anymore. In 2005 and before I got three of them which I still have but don't use: Native II, Endura and ATR.

I'll take wood, ivory, bone, or antler scales, combined with stainless steel liners and smooth stainless steel bolsters, over any other handle materials.
