Being as there are multiple versions of the Spyderco Military, which one is your favorite? Also wondering why the blue anodized fluted Ti was discontinued?

BG-42 Carbon Fiber is the one I use.

I like all of the CF models.
I liked the M390 a lot too, but sold it. It, and the S90V may be the best of them, but I'll stick with my BG-42.
BG-42 won't hold an edge as well as those two, but I like the steel, and am very comfortable with it.
The two Sebenza's I use, a Small and Large BG-42 Regular, are my main two carry knives along with the BG-42 Military.

Thanks Ken,I was hoping you'd weigh in.What's your thoughts of the Ti version ?

I like the G10 version. I used to have both the brown XHP Military and a blue fluted Ti Military. The fluted Ti Military was my grail knife before I got it, but I then sold it after owning it for about a year because I found myself carrying my brown G10 military about twice as often as I did the Ti. I decided that I just prefer the lighter weight and improved grip of the G10. I will say that the Ti Military was very well put together and opened really smoothly.

Also wondering why the blue anodized fluted Ti was discontinued?

I think they stopped the anodizing because it slowed down production and was a major factor in the fluted Military's scarcity. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I like the the Left Hand version the most. I also have the Cruwear sprint, but something about that old black g-10 and s30v lefty makes it feel like it was made for me... :p

I'll answer in two parts, though I've put them together into a single knife. By the way, I don't think there's such thing as a 'bad' Military - just great, greater and greatest. ;)

My favorite chassis is the Ti/G10 hybrid. I like it best because I prefer the bigger cutout for unlocking the lock bar on the Ti models, but I like the weight being lighter than the full Ti version. Actually, I think the Military balances and handles best with the Ti/G10 version. I find the G10 and CF versions a little light and the all Ti versions a little heavy.

My favorite blade, by a small margin, is the M390 blade. It's only ahead of S90V because I have three of these an only one of the S90V sprints, so I worry less about losing it. :)

I like all of them with the fluted titanium being the current favorite because it has the best balance and is built so solid with the frame lock. I guess that frame and my M390 blade. A Sprint Run of Fluted Titanium with say S110V would be totally sick! The one I use is the ComboEdge one from 2005 because I like having a partially serrated edge on such a big blade.

In square brackets I've included the actual weight:

  1. ComboEdge G-10 (C36GPSE) [4.22 oz.]
  2. M390 Carbon Fiber (C36CFM390P) [4.13 oz.]
  3. Cru-Wear Gray G-10 (C36GGY) [4.47 oz.]
  4. Titanium (C36TIP) [6.00 oz.]
  5. Fluted Titanium (C36TIF) [5.52 oz.]

Titanium with a CPM-M4 blade. Pretty much got rid of, or gave away, every other Military I had.
