So what does everybody use for field dressing deer (or similar sized game)?

At the Moment I use a good bone saw and a buck 110 or fallkniven f1. I am thinking about adding some Knives of Alaska but am taking by time trying to decide what will best suit my needs. :D

Just a buck 192, favorite hunter, and a gerber bone saw. I dont like anyh high end stuff for hunting, I personally think its pointless, plus buck 420hc sharpens up soo good :D

I haven't hunted deer/elk/bear for awhile due to lack of time, but back when I did, I had a Old Timer large two bladed hunter. That knife has gutted and skinned quite a few deer, a few elk, and several bears...not to mention assisting in the butchering of well over a hundred head of cattle, and a pile of pigs. I still have that knife in a drawer out in the shop, but all it does these days is cut stuff when I am out playing with my tools.

Biggest game I do usualy is goats .

Im not flash , I use the same knife I used since I first used a bow for hunting .

Lone Wolf T2. Its my EDC, even when Im hunting. I have not had a knife that out performs it in any cutting task. I always have a large fixed blade with me but never use them for field dressing.

I use a Knives of Alaska Cub Bear caping knife. Its thin and pointy enough that I really don't need a bone saw for anything. Because of the thin pinty blade I can use it to reem out the anus and cut around the hip joints without the need to cut through the pelvis. I use pruning shears (that I keep for clearing shooting lanes) to cut the hocks off of the hams and shoulders. Larger game like elk and moose would require some sort of saw I imagine, but we are talking about deer sized game right? Once I get the deer gutted, skinned, and quartered I go to the kitchen knives.

I really only hunt whitetail as far as big game goes, and the only thing I have used in the last few years to field dress them is a Buck 102. I don't ever break the pelvis in the field though. Last year I gutted 3 deer over the season and never resharped it, so really what more do you need?

I have been contemplating getting a higher end hunting knife, but with all the tromping around through swamps and what not, the chance of loosing it is greater than anything I EDC, and the Buck 420HC stays sharp plenty well to serve its purpose, so I have pretty much decided against it.
