Mine was a 4" DLC bayonet blade (D2) Maxx with MOP inlays. I saw one that Darrel's friend Dan had posted pics of and I was had to have the exact same thing. I called Darrel Ralph long distance from Iraq and I had my first custom knife ordered. It arrived perfectly timed to coincide with my 30 days leave in Feb 2004. Sadly, I lost that knife somewhere on Ft. Campbell.

The last custom I received was a sterile Reese Weiland Hawk auto in SS handles with a rayskin inlay. I recently sold it to come up with money for a massive Persian framelock by Peter R.

My first custom was a Bud Nealy Aikuchi in blued O-1 with black Micarta scales, bought back in the early 80s at the first ECCKS in Jersey, it was one of 7 he took to his first big show at the beginning of his full time career as a knifemaker.

My last was a Drop Point skinner with osage orange scales made by our own Nathan the Machinist here on the forums, Nathan makes a superb workin' knife, F&F are top notch, I'll have to dig through my pics and post some shots of 'em.

In between I've had/have other Nealys a couple Pat Crawfords, Doziers, Azas, R Cover, David Winston, all excellent knives I'd recommend every maker listed here.

Thanks Charlie Mike. Good theme.

First: My brother-in-law was one of the two James' in the James Bros. He turned me on to this piece in 1998. From then on I started going to shows and searching online. Damn him! ;)

Can you tell how very old this is by the 2001 photo montage??! :eek:

Jeffrey Cornwell's work is an acquired taste. (I've also enjoyed crow pie often, so my taste in knives is unique.) Behind the scenes, Jeffrey has gifted my family with a number of helpful items as he mails me his projects. (Backgrounds, stacks of brown paper bags, trinkets for my son...) The character of the maker imbedded itself into his work so much so, that this piece is a privilege to own, despite it's awkward usefulness.

I love this stabbing, knife-like object.

My first custom was a Bruce Culberson Bolok. This was something Bruce had just made for someone else, so I ordered one...

Mr. Winkler has said that my next custom should be ready today! Daniel says that each one is so labor intensive, that they are each a custom piece. This is a pic of how mine should look...

I'm guessing my custom shop damascus Buck 110 with stag scales doesn't count :confused:.

My first real custom was a Gossman buffalo knife, D2 I believe, and buffalo horn scales. Wish I still had that.

My latest custom is a Gossman puukko type knife. My Dozier bushcraft is coming up for production soon, and I have a Gossman Deer Creek that should be done this week.

First custom was either a D'Holder boot knife or a Ted Bollenbach Boot knife as both were purchased at the same time from Canadian Custom Knives at the CKCC booth at the CNE 1980. No photos on digital and not sure if I have prints. Both are long gone are hundreds of others since then but still have a couple hundred in the collection today. Last knife? yet to come?

My first was a Nick Wheeler Forum knife. Great knife. But at the time I thought that $180 was a crazy amount to spend on a knife, so I let it go not more than 6 months after I bought it.

And since then I really cannot recall another custom that I have bought...

Here's some one else's picture of it.

First was a small fighter by Sam Cox. I met him in 1988 at a show in Charleston and fell in love with one of his knives. I've still got it!
My last was received this week, one of Serge's Kiridashis, a very cool little knife!

Nick Wheeler or Nick Allen?

My first was a Randall inspired Fireman's knife made by the Martins in Texas; my last a Chute from Thad Buchanan.

In '04 or '05 I bought this used knife made by Bob Lay and it was the first custom knife I came to own;

The most recent knife I received was made by Chris Moss in late 2011;

Don Hanson piqued my interest in custom knives in 2005. I ask him if he could make me a hunter with a river running through the blade. Here is the result. I didn't know anything about damascus at the time, but I was impressed (even though Don ask if I wanted him to try to get a better result with a second attempt). Still my favorite Hanson.

I picked this up over the weekend at the Little Rock Show from a purveyor. Don made about 10 of these, and this one is pretty sweet. Steel is W2, a favorite of mine. (Mine is the top one, made in 2006).
