I posted this a while back in the Traditional Section but wanted to see how the General Section would respond.

I got this knife in 1975 when I was 9 years old. My dad told me when I turned 10 he would get me my first pocket knife. I drove him nuts for about 3 months until he caved.

If you still have your first pocket knife or any special knife please post it. Thanks for your time..

My first knife was cheap slipjoint bought to me by my mother in the August 1963 with other supply, which I needed in the first grade school. Intend was to sharpen pencils. This knife probably was lost and replaced several times thru first grade. Most of the kids carried knives and learn how to sharpen pencils from first to eight grade, when we learn drafting. Different time (different country as well). It was long time ago...............

My first knife was purchased around 1962-1964 in a souvenir store in Minnesota during one of our many fishing vacations. These knives, with pictures of Indians on them, were nearby the rubber tomahawks and hatchets. Tough decision for an 8 or 9 year old!

A Richards 'Little Chief' - a cheap Sheffield made slipjoint - given to me when I was 7. Had a picture of an American Indian on it too!

It was a Boy Scout Knife, Red Handles, Large blade, reemer, can opener and screwdriver/caplifter. Made by either Imperial or Camillus. It was stolen at some point and my folks replaced it with a Vic Camper, which was also stolen when I was in college. But thats my story.

My first was a Spanish knife (we lived in Madrid) marked toledo and inox. It had a large and small spear point and a screwdriver/bottle opener. On the underside were a corkscrew and a leather punch. The handles were some kind of black metal inlaid with brass birds and other animals. With that and a rubber tomahawk I was Daniel Boone or Mingo, depending on mood, for many years. I was five or six when a family friend gave it to me and about 35 when ex wife #1 stole it.

I can't remember how old I was, maybe 10-12 ish. We were camping in Jasper, Alberta and I wanted a knife to whittle like my dad was.

We went to a store there and bought me what I now must assume was an Opinel. I don't know if that was the brand, but it looked exactly like one with the brown wooden handle and the ring lock.

Unfortunately over the years I lost it someplace, I'm tempted to pick up a new one just because.
