your first knife

a fixed blade drop point skinner form G Wostenhelm & Sons, Sheffield England (the REAL Sheffield , not the &^^&%* china one....).

no camera, so no pics soryy....

An old carbon bladed pocket knife that my dad said I could have to carry when I was somewhere about 6 or eight. This was some 50 years ago, so I have no memory of the make. Had it for years. Lost it as a teenager I think.

Some forgettable little folder that my father plunked on the dinner table, when I was six years old, and he said "If you clean your plate, you can have this."

I was a picky eater as a young kid, but my father and mother were survivors of the Depression and to leave food on the plate was a sin.

My first knife was a cheap Gerber LST that my friend gave me (just a few years ago). Back then I thought it was the greatest knife in the world. A few months later I returned it and got a CRKT M16-13z.

I kinda wish I still had the Gerber though. I find myself gravitating towards knives around the same style, like the Fallkniven U2 (which I'll get when I have some spare cash). If Gerber made a LST with better steel I'd be all over it right now but sadly it seems like they've discontinued the LSTs from what I've heard.

No pictures though since it was 4-5 years ago and I didn't have a camera back then.

This knife made by Edmund Davidson, started me collecting, but was not my first knife. The first, a large pocket knife, had to be one of those you thought was the greatest fishing knife made with the second blade a fish scaler and hook remover. All tackle stores had them on a cardboard display. Think they are still around after 45 years or more. Don't remember the make.

Googel Gerber LST, and you'll find some. If you like knives of this style, look at these

My first knife was a Regents Trust ad knife. My first real knife was a Case Medium Stockman, yellow, CV. I still like slipjoints, and I still love and have that knife, and would reccomend it to anybody. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of it.

It was some piece of shit "tactical" folder from Big 5 sporting goods. It broke in about a month. Only $10 though.

I think it was a Boy Scout Knife, even though I got it when in the Cub Scouts. I still have it. Two other knives I got as a kid were a Bowie style hunting knife (long gone) with a very cheap plastic handle that had a stag head formed in it (that may have actually been my very first knife - I got it free for selling seed packs or something), and a dagger style knife (also gone) I bought at a tourist gift shop when our family was on vacation somewhere.
