Hello everyone, I'm fairly new here and just want to say what a great forum this is. Lot's of good people with good info!

I've purchased a few Busses and while I do like to look at them, they are begging for use. I have some property that is overgrown with all sorts of invasive exotics that will now have a new weapon or two waged on it in 2009. FFBM, NMFBM, and AK are in the arsenal for hacking poison ivy vines off my trees, pruning low hanging branches when I am bush hogging, slashing thru multiflora rose and the dreaded green briars, etc.

With that being said, I was wondering how many of you actually use your Busse(s) on a daily or regular work basis, and would appreciate your comments and experiences.

Thanks in advance

You will get a lot of pics and responses. Let me say welcome to our humble abode! Please post pics from the front lines of the battle! Here's my HOG ASH1

I'd have to say that my CG FBM & FBM LE are the 2 most used here... Being that the CG FBM is currently "on assignment" all the way across the country with another HOG, I'd say that it now gets the nod overall for most used. :D:thumbup:

The CG FBM (below) was the first one I've ever used, and is the one that I "tested" by handing it over to a few landscaping guys (that had no idea about Busse's) for a day and let them beat the crap out of it for a day working on my then crazy overgrown property. :) It makes a great user!!

Here's my Ash1. It was all black. I use it all the time for everything. trimming trees, chopping bones for my dogs, heaps of stuff. It's an awesome tough knife.

if someone would pork up an Off Duty I'd use it plenty around the house....(hint hint).

As for regular "work" basis....alas the TSA has said specifically no Busse knives past the security screening checkpoint. I've tried to make them realize Busse knives are 100% American made, would NEVER harm a passenger or the aircraft, and IN FACT would give it's INFI life to protect those on board at all costs. Sadly they are not buying it :(

You've got an awfully nice arsenal. !!
My hardest working Busse is my BAD. I wear it every day, all day, at work and at home and use it constantly. I convexed the edge and give it a little touch up on the strop every evening.
I just love this knife. :D
It's the best little knife I've ever had.

One of my BADs gets carried and used every day, though obviously not for chopping down trees and such.

My Hellrazor has become a favorite woods knife.

I would say that it is a toss up as to most used between my convexed pumpkin GW (which does get carried every day), and my straightened, convexed edge SS, which does not get carried every day, but is my go to user, and makes a handy slicer, and great point control for all kinds of jobs.

My modified FBMLE gets chopping duty (last use, splitting the sappy "fat wood" parts out of a bunch of logs I was splitting for my dad last visit. The FBMLE is currently in transition between a v grind edge and convex edge (it is going to take hours more work to get it there).

I was going to say that my Ash1 is the only non user, as I have not really chopped anything with it yet, but then I remembered that I took it and butchered an elk, and boned it out with the Ash1 (ended up getting micro rolls in the edge, not from contact with the bone, but from the bone head I let use it to slice steaks kept going through the meat too hard and cutting through the butcher paper to the concrete table beneath, which gave me an excuse to convex that edge early), and the GW

two throwing my FBMLE, that would be more play than work (but really any chore I get an excuse to do with a knife is still pretty much playing)

For me, the two most often used knives are a FBM SE '07 and a BAD. A BATAC sees a fair amount of use as well.

Thanks Everyone for the posts keep em rolling - Don't be shy HOGS of the down under and outside CONUS - would love to see the users you guys have and hammer

Also, I would think surveying, among other duties, would be a calling for the mighty Busse - How about it MHAWG?

Welcome to the trough! Looks like you've been snortin' around pretty good so far. :D

I've got a few users, I just don't get to use them as often as I'd like to. Here's some older pics.

AKs. The two I have on-hand are used daily - one in the summer and one in the winter. I use the CS AK in the winter as an indoor training blade, since it has a factory edge that couldn't hurt a fly. The Banned AK is my outdoor trainer.

The third AK is currently being renovated and will be used for tameshigiri contests versus the other Banned AK.

I don't have one particular user. They all get used at some point. Here are some pics of mine:

I surveyed for about three years in the Appalachian mountain s of western North Carolina and I was carrying a 24" bladed Martindale Machete everywhere I went. With all the wild rose bush mounds, what we called "government briars" (mean buggers) very dense rhododendron cover in lots of places, I think the AK47 would have been ideal.
I guess I'm saying for stuff like briars longer reach is better...I'd love to see see a new release along the lines of a 24" blade Busse! I don't know if I could lift it or afford it, but....mmmmmmmmmachete!

I abused that poor machete. It was a hammer and a shovel and a dog protection until it no longer had any weight behind the tip and became useless for dropping trees....lemme see if I can't get up a pic.

Long story shorter, I would have used an AK all day long had I been aware of Busses then. Actually at that point the AK hadn't come out, but having handled one since I think that would have been the ticket.

I now have a NMFBM and a NMSFNO that are going to get put through their paces soon, I've done some small stuff with the SNFO, but have been saving the NMFBM for a day I feel extra spunky.
