Just trying to get a feel as to what I should be offering. I can`t rely on orders alone, so need to figure out what would be most popular sizes to offer. Please explain your answer! (you can choose more than one)

If I were to stick my neck out with a non-order knife, it would be something nice and simple with a sharp price point. Like what you are considering in your other thread.

There are too many patterns and scale options to take a chance on. You don't want make knives that you break even on.

You need a price point niche knife that you can sell in volume. That will supplement your order book.

Looks like you put some thought into your answer, I appreciate it.

I wish there was a magic formula for you, you make a great knife!

I chose both the neck and EDC options as those are the ones I carry most often.

Maybe the magic formula is that there isn't a magic formula. You do what you do pretty damn well, just keep doing it and refining your technique and style. Feedback is great but it is really just personal opinion of the person providing it. Might be valuable, might not.

If I keep on doing what I have been there is not any room for growth. If I want to keep making knives, things have got to change, and quickly.

I wanted to vote for the large knife because that is what grabs my eyes first but, edc and midsize knives get carried and used. I buy and use a lot more of those than anything else.

I don't buy a lot of knives ( since the trapline) so my opinion won't hold a lot of weight, but my next knife would be with a 3" - 3 1/4" blade and around a 4" handle. Maybe offer a workhorse version and a high end show type version.

I EDC my tiny Bluegill, so I voted neck knife. If I'm doing outdoor activities, I usually have something else a little bigger. I don't think I own a blade over 4 inches.

Well, I'm going large because that is the realm of the fighters. I already own to many using type knives so it seems that when I think about buying another fixed blade knife my thoughts go towards fighters, I don't need a fighter, probably will never use a fighter, but some how it makes more sense to me to acquire something I'll never use than it does to acquire something I could use, but won't more than a few times because I have so many other users. Does this make sense? Anyway, I still am considering an EK Commando style knife, because I won't use it and don't need to justify my owning it due to a "usage" clause in my thinking! Besides, I already own a JK Improved Bowie (with Mods) and could never, ever, own a more useful knife, nor would I wish to be seen carrying any other knife so as to be labeled as a tenderfoot or greenhorn or even a "DUDE".

I voted mid size and camp knife. My most used JK is without a doubt, my Trapline.

Most of my fixed blade knife use revolves around food, be it in the kitchen or butchering deer, so larger blades are more useful for me.

That reminds me that I need to cut out a piece of cardboard and get it sent out...

I voted neck knife because I like to pocket carry small fixed blades. A good size for me is 5" to 51/4" overall with a 2" FFG or convex blade from 3/32" stock, with contoured handle and lanyard hole. The knife in the kydex sheath should be no more than 51/2" overall.

YMMV,

I voted for 6-7 overall... however 8-10 overall may be okay as well (depending).....

My least favorite would be the neck knife, I find little use for them at all, also bother me quite a lot!... Not to mention, in the summer when I wear a single T-shirt, I don't need an imprint showing to the world that I have a knife around my neck! (By bother me I mean, everything from skin rashes due to sweat in the summer heat, and the constant rubbing on your skin, also with just plain old simply "getting in your way"... like while your bending over, it'll pop out and be in your line of vision, just becomes a hassle to deal with...

Also, a "camp" knife... is "FUN"... but not worth its weight out there in the field.... if your truck camping and wana have some fun, go ahead.... however.... I feel like a true backpacker (or anybody that is cautious with weight in their packs)... will opt for something like a hack-saw... saws are not only more efficient as in, saving you calories ... swinging away with an axe/large knife would burn alot more calories, also... not to mention much safer.... swinging an axe or 14" blade around could sever a limb our there, either yours or a friends that you didn't see behind you!... and miles from civilization thats a big problem.... lastly a saw will give you a cleaner cut and be easier to get more managable pieces of wood for either fire or precise cuts for your shelter... (not to mention its a lot lighter)... and you can carry an extra blade in your pack that weighs virtually nothing, while you'd need to carry a heavy sharpening stone to sharpen that camp blade...

Sorry for rambling, but I can go on and on... I just don't see why so many are into those larger blades when there are so many better alternatives... so definetly 6-10" inch overall would prob be the sweet spot

If i must choose really, depending on a situation. i would likely go for the camp knife. But in reality, i havent really find much use of larger knife ( i went with medium). I tend to stay with the Enzo Trapper 95(scandi). Saying that, i have carried larger blades before ( CS Leatherneck, KaBar). But if i were to do chopping, id rather go with a good axe, or in tropical environment like myself, a parang , Which is really more shortsword than knife. which i will usually have my mora with me. All an All, the steel and grind need be the most primary of concerns, rather than length and shape

I like them all and use them all but lately I'm at a point where I'd rather just carry a folder than an edc blade like my Izzy 2 even though it's one of my favorite knives. I just don't use smallish knives anymore. Same for camp knives. I love them and they work well for me but they're just too awkward to carry. The knives I'm using the most outside of folders are belt knives in the 8-10 inch OAL.

I can't EDC a fixed blade in town and my fixed blade knife use is primarily in the woods so I went with mid & camp sizes.
I like chopping on wood with a big knife vs an axe & use a mid size for everything else.

I voted edc just because I use that size more than anything else. There's not a whole lot I haven't been able to accomplish with my BK14, I'm sure a bigger blade could've made some of those tasks much easier, but I'm also a fan of elbow grease ;)
