What is your most versatile folding knife ? I mean the one you would like to have in your pocket in almost all situations : at work, in the fields, for cooking or even to defend yourself…

I agree, no knife is miraculous and able to do everything, but I’m sure there is one you use for a major part of your activities.

Ok, it seems to be a new “if you can own only one” thread, but I think I wonder “if I always have to carry one ?” maybe in addition to other more specific knives.

Blade-Tech Pro Hunter. A very versatile design. It excels at many tasks.

G-10 scales (or carbon fiber), dual nested liners, S30V steel, and ergonomics second to none.

Camillus Aftermath

That huge recurve blade does well at just about any kind of cutting task and the grip/guards insure that my hand will stay where I want it. Despite its size the Aftermath handles delicate tasks quite well. And it is "trust it with your life" tough.

My ultimate choice for broadest range of use would be a fixed blade, but the Aftermath beats it when you factor in real-world carry as a part of versatility.

The two that I carry everyday are my Benchmade 805 and 721s. Of those two, I use the 721s the most, as it's my "utility folder"...The serrations can come in handy.

If it wasn't for all the *#%&@ sheeple in this world, I'd carry my Craig Camerer stag handled EDC as my EDC. I usually have this one on me at home doing yard work, sees some kitchen duty etc. It can be seen on his site www.camererknives.com in the gallery

Lately I've been carrying a BK11, and I'm beginning to believe it's really a more versatile and useful tool than any single blade folder. The Kydex sheath works equally well for neck or pocket carry, of course would easily attach to belt or gear if desired, and the ergonomics of the skeletonized handle absolutely amaze me. For heavy cutting, it feels like you're using a much larger fixed blade, while for precise work the continuous flat surface between handle and blade allows you to choke up on it in a variety of holds to meet the job at hand.

I have been carrying one for a while now and it meets all my daily requirements. I have used it in the shop, on the leather table, cut fruit and meat with it, used it on the farm and whilst it is illegal to carry a knife here for self defence it would work in that scenario too.

The knife I carry the most is my FRN Delica but it's not the most versatile. It's just very light and very easy to carry that I don't notice it until I need to use it.

Thanks for your answers !

Personally, I often carry my small Sebenza or a plain edged Endura. But you are right, a SAK can be very helpful too. Maybe the solution is to carry both !!! :D
But I don’t know if my pockets are big enough… :p
