...well, I was looking through the new cabelas cutlery catalog and realized all my multitools are outdated. When I was a kid about 5-10 years ago a Multitool was awesome by itself.

In the catalog they have assisted opening multitools now and even one that has a suction cup for use as a camera tripod!! Wow....

Assisted open multis and a suction cup it a total waste imho. I want a leatherman or vic that I'm sure will stand the test of time.

I have been looking at the leatherman OHT.

Assisted open just isn't an option for me (because of laws). suction cups just isn't a thing I'd want in that tool...

I have had many leathermen multi tools but nothing compares to my leathermen supertool, it is kinda big but there are no removable parts and not full of flat head sizes like the surge. If I had the money I would buy about 4 super tools one for each car, backpacks and home. on a EDC I carry the gerber crucial this one is perfect for quick little task. Don't buy the gerber crucial F.A.S.T the blade is spring loaded and real, real wobbly.

Um, Multitools and SAKs are gimmicky by nature. That's what we love about them. They do stuff regular knives can't. Would you really carry need nosed pliers if they weren't attached to so much other cool shiz? NOPE! Purists? Psshh! Until the new gadget you want is attached!

If these new features prove themselves to be useful functions then I will fully be on their side, until then they are just unnecessary gimmicks as far as my usage is concerned. To each their own though.

One more thing to break IMO. Like the torsion bar on assisted. Knives.
