So first I hope everyone had a great 2012 and a better 2013 to come. That being said, we can apply resolutions to just about anything, so why not axes and the like. So list up what you are going to do in regards to axes this year, or attempt to.

1. Complete Warren Sager Chemical Puget Sound collection.

2. Get a Kelly Perfect jersey pattern.

3. Give a Hudson Bay pattern axe a fair shot at me liking it.

4. Give an Estwing an attempt.

5. Spend more time in the woods with axes and such in 2013 and less time on the pc with you all!!!

There is a quick 5.

What say you?

I'll play.
1. make my own haft, at least for a hatchet.
2. acquire a spokeshave (needed for #1).
3. Stop buying axes.
4. Spend more time in the woods.

(note: number 3 will be broken, I'm sure. :) )

I was just going to say "find more better and cheaper". I'm humbled by the open-mindedness of OP's resolutions 3 and 4.
I do resolve to make some Kentucky belt axes this year. I've got all the kinks out of my forge setup (as far as I know so far, knock wood), and a couple of pieces of steel that look just right.

1 Start trying to mentor other people in hand labor
2 Get land
3 Build a home and grow a few tons of grain and potatoes with my brother

Gotta aim high right?

I resolve to keep a clean work area. Today may cause issues with that.

I vow to spend more time doing volunteer trail work and actually put a few axes to work.

1. Get a steady job so I can buy more vintage axes/hatchets.
2. Make a haft with no power tools.
3. Teach the boys how to split wood.

Finish my mostly self made woodsmans trio.
Make a draw knife.
Make some hafts
Use my axes more

1. Try to perfectly haft an old oak handle I've been saving for years to a Emerson & Stevens double bit with a diamond shaped eye.
2. Build a shelter with just an axe.
3. Hew at least 1 log
4. Try not to spend more than $20 on an axe head
5. Go on backpacking trip of over 2 nights with minimal shelter and an axe

1. Spend more time outdoors, less time at work.
2. Use axes and hawks while outdoors.

1) finish sheathing my remaining four axe bits (two single, one double).
2) fine-tune all edges as necessary
3) re-wedge two of them
4) use 'em!

That's it. Modest goals in the axe department. I want all my tools and toys 100% functional rather than as high-maintenance clutter.

1.Attempt to sharpen and tune up a crosscut saw. I have all the tools needed and reference materials. Need to just do it.
2. Concentrate on my Kelly collection, add to and refine.
3. Start selling on Ebay. I have many axes/hatchets that I just don't need or want to have in my collection.

Awesome start on the new year road to a sustainable lifestyle. I need to clean up the shop so I can work on a few ax projects , I,d like to gift some tools to the fella who had his tools ripped off,I think he said he wanted to make some ax handles. I've got a drawknife and a couple of other tools he can have

Wait impatiently for my 5 double bit american made axes and a big PLUMB axe.
As soon as they arrive i'll restore the heads and hang them properly.
The next step is to restore my whole axe/hatchet collection and hang every each of them.

1. More time in the woods with my son and more time in a saddle.
2. Hang the majority of my axes.
3. Sell some axes and buy more steelheading gear.
4. Get a wood stove. (This will require a new house ;))
5. Forge.
6. Do volunteer trail work.

Ditto Steve. Memphis, I have a steelhead rod/reel I don't need anymore. It's about 3 years old, barely used. Nothing fancy but not bottom of the barrel either. Let me know if you're interested, I'm sure we could work out a trade.
