I have tried searching the forum but could not find anything on Michel Bras Knives. If there is a thread already I would love a link to it. If not:

Does anyone have any opinions on the Michel Bras knives? I just saw them while buying another Shun as a gift. I really like the look and it had a great feel. I don't mind the price if the quality is there.

Thanks in advance.

Take your hard earned money and flush it down the toilet before you waste your money on them. Its a gimmick knife with gimmick marketing, at a huge price. There's basically no advantage over the normal Shun lines, you're just paying big money for a name, tacticool colored coating, and snobbery.

Michel Bras is a chef who earned three michelin stars in the 90s I think. His knives dont appear to be anything special, not bad knives but nothing to justify the price. They are sort of in the category of consumer kitchen catalog counter jewelry. Well to do folks will buy them as wedding gifts for their friends, they will get used on occasion until they dull and then they will be given away and a new set of counter jewelry is bought until it dulls and on and on.
