I am getting an ESEE 3 soon and I was wondering what you fellas think about it. I am using it for Bushcraft, camping, and outdoor use. I would like your opinion, and not to convince me to buy a BK2, or compare it to a BK2, because I don't have one but I plan to get one eventually. Thanks!

The Esee3 and BK2 are completely different animals. The Esee is a good choice for light outdoorsy work. Obviously you won't be splitting much wood with it, but its great for bushcraft type carving since its not a big thick monster. Some folks like the fatter aftermarket scales that are available for a more comfortable grip, ymmv. Enjoy, its a nice knife

Thanks for the fast response, i look forward to seeing everyone else's opinions. I like when people look at the knife for the task rather than compare it to the baseline. I don't batton my knives unless i have to, I use a hatchet. Splitting wood is for axes and hatchets, not for knives IMO. I enjoy smaller handled knives and find them to be more comfortable than large handled ones.

The ESEE 3 is one of my favorites knives, but it is definitely for light duty. If you want something tougher that's similar in size, get the ESEE 4. I went Izula II->ESEE 3->Ratmandu and I am happy with that set.

Love my ESEE 3!!!
I've used the heck out of it. It's virtually indestructible and cuts like hell!
I'll post pix of mine tomorrow.

love my esee 3.

it is a good all round camp knife.

not a chopper you could but it is not made for splitting timber.

Major,
I went with the ESEE 3 over the 4 because I own the USMC KA-BAR which is similar in blade length, so I did not need another for that size.

I LOVE my ESEE 3 mil. Its my go to outdoors knife, and dont listen when people say its light duty. I have beat mine like a red headed step child and it just keeps coming back for more. I put liners on mine because I wanted a slighty wider handle on it but beyond that imo its the perfect 3.5 inch fixed blade.

The ESEE-3 is a fantastic knife and I agree with PatrickKnight--it's thin but it's NOT a light-duty knife! I've had one for years and can attest to the hard use it can handle, including heavy batoning. I carry mine on the shoulder strap of my pack.

I have an ESEE 3 with a custom kydex sheath with a Tek- Lok mounted to it. It makes much more concealable and I carry it quite a bit.
