I just saw the Ti Lite in a Cutlery Shoppe catalog and I immediately contracted the gotta-have-its. I've had only good experiences with this manufacturer. Despite some frequently expensive prices, I've found their products to be very good. Any views on this new knife? Is it worth the coupla hundred?

I've heard good things about the Ti-Lite even though it's a bit overpriced. Shop around a bit to look for a decent price before you buy.

Under "knives for sale individual" I saw one there for $100 a day or so ago. I don't know if it is still available.

It's a cool design but I would make sure that you can inspect it before you buy it. I have seen two of them and both had lock problems. Goodluck.

Mine was very difficult to get the blade opened. Very stiff.
For me, the thumb-stud is a bit TOO short. Open by pushing the guard is a better option.

Based on the poor reviews, it might be worth taking a look at the Ka-Bar Thorn.

Is that Dozier's logo on the blade?

I went to Ka-Bar's web page and they didn't say anything about Bob...

I'd like to know what he had to do with it, may make it more worthwhile to consider...

Hmm..let me think, AUS-8 blade with titanium handles for $150, or..D2 blade with aluminum handles for $120. I think I'd go with the Kabar just based on the steel, and the fact it was designed by Bob Dozier.

Thank you all for the useful and well-considered reply. Particular thanks to Santi for one of the best knife photos I've ever seen. Guess that if I can find the right price for this knife, I can live with the risk of lock problems. I called an online knife seller and he said that they were backordered. He claims this stiletto-looking knife is selling like hotcakes.

Had to lock up the brakes there and take a look at that Ka-Bar. I didn't know it existed until just this minute.

Yep, extremefishin I'm with ya. Doesn't even require a coin toss. I wouldn't even have to see a picture. Just review the materials list, price, and designer and fire off a check. Serious no-brainer here. Now I gotta go find one.

I remember reading some negative reports on the Kabar D2 Extreme folders. I wonder whether these are a significant inprovement? You would think so with Dozier's name on them. Anyone tested one?
