Here's a knife by a new Minneapolis maker. His knives are signed LVH. I'd be interested in your opinion of his design and what you can tell about his work from the photo. The handles are stag & the knife is a lockback with a lock similar to the old English style lockbacks. Fit & finish is first class. The action is very smooth and the blade locks up tight. Any thoughts as to valuation would be appreciated.

Looks like a cross between an old CaseXX clasp knife (blade & bolster) and a Remington Bullet hunter (handle) with a touch of Ken Onion thrown in for good measure

. I like the design; it flows nicely. I can't tell much about the F&F from the pic, so the value would be hard to guess based on appearance alone. Nice knife.

Forgot to mention that the closed length is 4 inches so it fits the hand nicely. The fit & finish is as good as anyone could ask.

Take a guess at what it might be worth considering the unknown maker.

Thanks.

James- can't help you with the value, too many unknowns, but I sure would be interested to know more about a custom maker who is a fellow Minnesotan. Let us know anything you find out. Thanks.

Okay, I’ll play along. Since you’re eager to hear a guess as to the knife’s value, that suggests to me that you picked it up for a steal. I’ll go with $350 (could the blade be borrowed from Case or another factory? [sure looks familiar]), but it could be worth a lot more or less based on the quality of workmanship. The maker isn’t a “big name,” so it shouldn’t be anywhere near what a guy like Tony Bose asks for his knives.

Lotta belly in that blade! It would be a long time before you wear that one out!

Hi James,
It's very difficult to put a price on a knife when you can't handle it. The design it very interesting, but in this game the reputation is an important factor. For someone who is new it looks as though they are on there way.

Thanks for the information guys. The blade and all other components are custom made. This blade will surely last a long time as it will probably never be used.

The maker is known by a small group of people in the Twin Cities area that buy his knives as fast as he can make them. The problem is he can't make them fast enough to suit us as this is his hobby and he works full time at another job.
