For general EDC I prefer the slim blades on my victorinox knives. When I dont know exactly where I will end up, I will bring a little more knife with me.

I don't have a preference for any particular blade thickness, as long as it fits the design.

If I have a 2" blade, I for sure don't want that blade to be 1/4" thick.

If I were carrying a 6" monster of a blade (and some folks do), 1/4" thick might work just fine.

Oh.. Thanks. Didn't know that. Not ready to upgrade yet (too many memberships already) :)
Can somebody resubmit this kind of poll? I think it might be interesting. I will delete this thread (if I can) later on.

Thickness is kind of a misleading factor to the performance of a knife better to judge it by the grind. For example: spyderco millie 4mm thick and cuts like a dream, then u have the 2.5mm delica that could only wish to cut as well. Thinner knives usually cut better but a lot of that has to do with the grind.

I'd like to have two EDCs:

1/16" 3" inch blade - only a couple such folders exist, and none in high end steel. What I do is buy a 1/8" folder I like and grind it down to 1/16" flat grind.

1/8" 4" inch blade with strong lock - a lot of good ones exist on the market. My favorite is the Benchmade 710.

I measure by millimeters, but I digress. I generally carry 2.5mm, but I really want something around 3.2-3mm. I like my blades flat ground and thick with a good amount of belly, which I noticed makes it very versatile for multiple tasks.

Exactly. The grind matters every bit as much as the thickness of the stock material.

I prefer a thinner grind myself for easier slicing, and I have no need for a thick slab of sharpened prybar in a folding pocket knife. Thick blades with dramatic hollow grinds might look nice, but aren't as useful to me.

No thicker then the full size Military but most of the time I want thinner on folders. No thicker then the Mark II on a fixed blade.
