Your Rotation...

Past few weeks I've been looking in the drawer trying to decide what to carry on a daily basis. Trying to think about what kind of day I'm going to have. Often I carry HR, and 630...or combo ss endura. But I have other knives I like to carry but I always end up with that combo. How do you decide what you will carry? What do you carry and how? When you do you just change it up?

I often take the materials into consideration as well. Like carrying a small northshore even though I know s30v is a superior steel...will I need the edge to hold longer? Or If I have to cut something heavy....just gonna have to use what I have. Do you carry a bag with you, with a few extra knives in the bag?

I look in the case and depends where I am going , :D Ill go with a MOD CQD,( great knife for the price ) Weiland Damascus Wasp ( Fancy pancy) lol Most of the time I have a Blackwood TI Fiend in a snoody neck sheath,

Always have a smaller SAK in my left hand pocket, and as far as my right hand pocket, I change when the mood strikes.

I rotate (usually week to week) between my Mnandi w/African Blackwood Inlay and my Mnandi w/Bocote Inlay. I know, I'm a wild man. :o :D ;)

I generally carry a Vic SAK Settler everyday, everywhere. I have several other SAKs and a bocote inlay Mnandi that I rotate as needs/want/mood dictates.

i carry a 630 skirmish in my front right pocket and a 806d2 ziptied in the back. ive got a bunch of kabars and a 770 osborne but i rarely if ever carry them any more.

i have a few set EDC's, a buck/strider large spear point or a small tanto, a leatherman micra,a buck pilot (amazing knife for the money) and a swiss army knife of some sort, either a electrician plus, a small tinker, a swiss champ or my newly aquired swisstool spirit.

other then that i may carry a maglight or a fixed blade of some sort, depending where im going. i prefere the buck alpha hunter with the rosewood and ats34.

right now my rotation is spyderco ti ATR, extrema ratio fulcrum 11, and a emerson specwar CQC8 zero bevel grind, if i carry a fixed blade (mostly in cooler weather) its always a bud nealy amoeba.

I am a bag man myself, I always have 2-5 knives with me always:D

TOPS,BM,STRIDER,a Cust. from are own CHIRO75,BM bali, and gerber
multi tool. They seem to go with me everywhere from time to time
I change the line up,(STRIDER stays)..

Have a nice day all.

My rotation:
1. a small SAK ('spartan' as far as I remember) goes with me everywhere as a set of bottle/can openers and a corkscrew.
2. depending on where I'm going... Camillus Heat or a custom folder with d2 blade or Kershaw Blur(rarely). Sometimes I carry one of my small fixed blades that I crafted myself.

Well, being that I just got hired to a new job today (whoo hoo!) I am temporarily sheepling down from the Buck 110 to a belt carried VicSAK Champ. If they object, which I doubt, I'll drop down to my yellow handled Case pocket carry. If no objections, I can switch back as size-wise they are similar enough to the casual glance.
Been pretty much a no-brainer to belt the Buck around the ranch for the last 6 months. My rotation is a mood thing for the most part and the 110 is back on top where it belongs and will likely stay. A lot depends on the anticipated environment also. Yes, I do have a small shoulder pack with a couple of spares as well as whatever is residing in my truck or car at the time.

I carry whatever's in arm's reach on my desk or night table before I head out to work. All my knives are capable of doing the work I need them to do, otherwise I wouldn't have bought them, or I would have tossed them. I also carry a 16" expanding aluminum Baton with me and a Walther PPK or a Springfield Champion.

Do you carry a bag with you, with a few extra knives in the bag?

Uh...no.

I rotate based on what I am doing and what I am wearing and my mood, if I am going to the gym after work then typically I carry a lightweight spydie, rescue or psalt, otherwise I rotate between microtech amphibian, spydie para mil SE, spyderfly. For fixed blades I am either carrying a Nealy cave cub or my new BM activator which I am really liking and feels like a gents fb. I also have an s30v 110 that has started to get some belt time though usually on weekends only. I have a multiplier in my pack and usually one spydie either thepsalt but currently a goddard lightweight. Got to replace my missing SAK though as I feel out of balance without it in my left front pocket.

Today its the spyderfly as I am trying to quit smoking and when I would normally have a smoke I pull out the fly and flip it until the craving passes or until I say "screw it" and go have a cig.

For me, it depends on a couple of things. First, if I acquire a new one, depending on size, etc. it will get used as my primary EDC (I'm also one that carries at least 3-5 at any time :) My SAK and Buck Metro (both are in slip cases), however, are always carried. My Ka-Bar/Dozier is IWB as well. The last little while, it's been Delica in loose with SAK, left pocket. BM Mini Grip clipped left pocket. BM Grip clipped to left cargo pant pocket. Para military in a pouch sheath on left belt or clipped to right cargo pocket (pouch today), Endura in my right cargo(when the Paramilitary isn't there) pocket and Leatherman on right side belt. Metro in my right pocket. It was a tough call on rotation this time around :D - I bought the Paramilitary and BM Mini Grip at the same time and then my BM Griptillian showed up via the mail a couple of days later. My old standbys, the Heat, M16 and Mini Ambush are on standby :) My Delica is really becoming a permanent fixture. My daypack carries a small fixed (usually a Buck Diamondback) and CRKT/Crawford Falcon (large one) along with my hones, and daily transport "things".

Weekends depend on what I'm doing. Yardwork - out come the Gerbers and my Buck 112. If I'm out shopping with my wife, or myself, it will be very close to weekly carry, but we'll see. I'm still on my "honeymoon" with my new ones. I haven't had a chance to golf too much this year yet, so it will be interesting to see what I take out this year. Last year, my SAK and Metro were always there plus one other in my golf bag, usually the M16. This year.....hmmmm.

This is all a very interesting read. Thanks all for your replies!!

Glad to see I'm not the only one that carries some sort of multi tool in the bag.

Here's another question. What's your favorite fixed blade, folder combo to carry? IWB sheath or out in the open? What would your ideal combo be for an evening which you had no idea what would happen? Not talking like random ninja attacks, just everyday. For example, I will be going down to work later in which I will carry a full serrated folder, and fixed blade so I have both edges covered.

(For a self-Defense Scenario- There is a Ruger P94 IWB), For knives I carry a Battle Rat on my belt, Endura clipped in my pocket for small cutting tasks. Also a couple tiny knives for tiny stuff. :)

For Random Ninja attacks, I use a 500 Megaton Thermonuclear device disguised as a sock.

I wish I had both of those!!!!!! I have a pen made from bocote. It is a beautiful wood.

I carry a swiss army knife and a Spyderco. The Spyderco depends on where I'm going and what I feel like that day.
