how do you keep you shop orginized other than knowing where you left something. that's how I know where everything is...what about you guys.

My garage/shop is only 16' X 22'. Its pretty hard to lose anything in there (although I did lose the gas tank for my snow blower last winter :o ).

My shop is a tiny shed. I have a lot of nails in the studs to hang tools and such. I have a steel organizer with 12 drawers that organize all of my smaller stuff.

I keep my leather stuff inside and I have an old desk that sort of keeps everything in order.

My shop was originally built by my great granddad. Over the years, my Grand father, Dad, and myself have added tools, etc. It is the ONE place that I know of, where I can always find what I need. As the saying goes, "a place for everything, and everything in its place." This is the motto my Dad and I live by.
On the other hand, my wife and I have three kids... the house has become a giant black hole!! The "Shop" is my retreat.:)

I would post a picture, but strong men would tremble, and weak-willed women would simply faint away...
I do almost all my projects in the kitchen, so the kitchen table tends to be covered in bicycle parts, wood bits, tools, containers of torn-down bearings and hub parts, sandpaper, and so forth. My scroll saw and drill press tend to sit proudly next to the food processor and the waffle iron...
I have naughty dreams about a real "shop", with things like a band saw.....

Peg board. Tons and tons of pegboard. All the tools have a place, and you can see them at a glance. I get the white kind, and it helps keep the shop bright too.

i'm like McWerner . my counters covered in tools, the sink has a chainsaw in it, being cleaned with a toothbrush and simple green, there are chainsaw chains hanging next to the cast iron pans, i have Hoppes #9, WD40, Carb cleaner next tot the spices, beer bottles piling up on the floor, and at one point i had a drill press and bench grinder C clamped to the table.

as it should be!

I don't know where anything is and I can never find anything either. I really need to work on that. It goes back and forth being cleaner and being a sty.

Whatever can be bolted down is. Everything else gets strewn about on the benches - there were four when last I counted.

Come wintertime, parts of the shop tend to migrate to the bedroom - one of the +'s about being single.

mine looks messy but i can usually find anything i need UNLESS my son has been digging around borrowing something then all bets are off lol.

once it cools off some i'm gonna get out there and straighten up some, just been too hot lately.

i mostly need to just put stuff where it goes vs it being strewn around everywhere.
