your thoughts craftsman sharpner

I think you want a belt sander with a 1x30 or 1x42" belt. Easy change-out belt for different grits. The objective is a slightly convexed edge profile as opposed to a chisled edge profile. You can get these for about the same price as the model you hot-linked. Maybe someone here on the Forum can show you where to buy.

Yup, gotta agree with Jeff if you want to sharpen convex blades and edges.

I burned my craftsman belt sander up in about a year, I can't stand craftsman electical tools, they are more expensive , they will not replace them on the spot like the hand tools. The original motor start capacitor was cheap wax roll capacitor and it burned out. As soon as it heated just a bit the wax melts and it shorts, they stopped using those in industry 25 years ago, I replaced it with a good electrolitic capacitor with like a 2x capacity to make sure It would run ( check it all out with the electrical engineerhere at work) and the motor windings started shorting, bad insulation. The Sears store wouldn't take it back , they wanted me to drive 45 miles to their service center get it fixed. then the minimun repair charge was over half the cost of the sander. Don't do it......

I got a kalamazoo 1x42 and it is doing fine......

I'd would hold out for something that is less specialized, like a 1 x 42 belt sander. It'll sharpen everything I have, and it can be used for LOTS of other things, especially wood and metal shaping. I don't know how I ever got along without it. It's a Kalamazoo machine, but I own Craftsman stuff (old table saw, drill, router) and their stuff is fine for my level of use.

Well I do need to sharpen convex blades so that is a good point, also someone that has one says its not worthit thats pretty good for me.
So I started looking at some others and found a delta disc and belt combo that is adjustable for $100 on amazon I saw some others but the price is getting a little high.

Again its just to sharpen things myself otherwise I can go to a local guy and pay him when I need it done right but that wears a little on the ego.
