been using a gec 81 pattern to clean game hogs, goat,an dear an really like this style of knife, but i want a larger stockman pattern. looking to try the #82 dixie stockman, or another stout large stockman pattern,i prefer stiff lock-ups, any recommendations.i have a lot of knives in different patterns all gec's ,only want info on a three blade stockman please..

The blades on the 81 are more stout. The skinnier blades on the 82 are a bit more flexible. And the 82 isn't really much larger. The jumbo stockman from Moore Maker (far right in the photo) is a big knife and a well designed pattern. Queen makes the Moore Maker knives and the quality can be hit or miss.

the case large stockman is 4 1/4 closed i believe, and can be gotten in cv(carbon). probably more than just yellow as well, in terms of scales.

A bit off target I know but the GEC 12 Powderhorn 2 blade has one of the beefiest blades they make.

Rough Rider makes a nice large stockman. I think their green bone with the horseshoe shield is 4 3/8 inches closed.
Their stoneworx is the same size. It displaced my Buck 301 from my pocket.

I like big stockmans. I have an 81 and this 53 is much heavier and more robust feeling with significantly stronger pull on the blades. Personally, the case 6375 is on my short list but I don't have experience with it. I do recommend the 53 however, it just feels like a tank in your hand!

Case's 6375 large stockman is robust and heavier-built than the #81 GEC. I've had both and like them both, but the Case large stockman is noticeably more stout. It's 4.25" closed.

Camillus #89. Beast. The long nail pull makes it look sweet too.

Schrade Old Timer 61, slim beast with reach. The master blade is a nice stout turkish clip, like a trapper but not as 'tall' from edge to spine. Very slim overall, great in the pocket.

Case 6375. Pretty beast, giant honker of a sheepsfoot! (I went with purple and stainless)

Plenty of Buck 307 large Stockman (4-1/4") knives on the used market - stainless steel construction, made by Camillus under contract for Buck - nice, beefy pocketknife. The easy route would be the Case 6375 as they are readily available new. OH

Schrade 858OT Lumberjack was a horse of a knife - not so marked but the ones I've seen have been stainless steel. Here is one I own opened and as compared to their normal Large Stockman, an Old Timer 8OT. OH

I agree on the the 53. Very stout knife . Definitely more knife than the 81 Abilene .I have the jigged yellow rose as well. I've seen a 53 stockman with slanted bolsters and slimmer clip blade , not sure if that one is as stout as my 53 though

The Big CASE in Amber Bone offers exceptional value and likeable quality, it's big mind:eek::D

Böker, Germany do a nice large Stockman in carbon with rounded bolsters, nor is this expensive either.

Queen Cutlery's Large Stockman in Zebra Wood and D2 is very worthwhile too.

Fact is, you may be spoiled for choice:D:thumbup:

Case 6375 is really nice. Solid and well built, you can't go wrong for the money. I scored one in purple haze bone for right around $40. I don't care what anyone says, - it's a great value. The purple bone is also really pretty and well done. My knife is every bit as good as any GEC I own, and I own quite a few. Right now, Case is on their game, and they are really tough to beat.

The first knife given to me by my grandfather was a German Eye Brand (believe medium) Stockman.

I absolutely loved that knife, unfortunately it was taken when the safe was removed forcefully from the house by unwanted personnel.

I was gifted the large Stockman 3375 CV some years ago, though I do not carry it that much due to sentimental values I absolutely love it and want to pick up one to use. It just screams functionality.
